The Mike Goolsby Show: Sounding off on Notre Dame's 33-20 loss against Louisville

What really disappoints me about Notre Dame being undisciplined is its the veterans. Blake Fisher committing two awful penalties. Marist committing a inexcusable mistake. A veteran safety missing open field tackles. Thats not coaching that's on players. Coaches didn't do good enough but players gotta look in the mirror as well.

I agree with you Mike 1000%! The play calling from Parker was horrible. I can’t believe that a 6 yr QB doesn’t audible out of bad plays. Freeman has to change this.

I’m doing my rest after my meetings in the morning tough pill to swallow for me , but goolsby is right on everything.

I am a 76L Grad, life long Irish Fan; after listening to Mike Goolsby, John Kennedy, Tim Hyde and Mike Singer, all of whom are thoughtful, knowledgeable, faithful Notre Dame commentators, here is what needs to happen this week before we face So Cal: 1. Decide to support Marcus Freeman; he will be a great HC, he is doing very well in most areas, but he is too inexperienced to handle the heat of battle right now; 2. Parker is a Problem, no OC experience; short term we need to get him support some how, long term replace him; 3. Let Hartman play, give him right to audible, use his vast experience; 4. Penalties and Missed Tackling, got to stop; drills and consequences; come-on we are ND; We can beat So Cal and win out season if we do these things Go Irish!!!

I'm very much relieved! No more false hope.

Two games lost. Both opponents undefeated. Life goes on, we got beat in all aspects. Out coached, out played, they executed we had turn overs. Team was tired, emotional drained, long story we got beat.

If Freeman is going to survive he needs significant upgrades at the coordinator position on both sides of the ball.

Having a mobile QB in today's college football is key IMO. Making a defense account for all 11 players in terms of a running threat gives you a giant advantage. Im a Varsity HS OC and having a guy that can create on his own when things break down AND run your offense as designed makes your job much easier. My best offenses have had a kid under center that can do both. Power 5 D1 football is more advanced, but it still applies.

Sam needs to be "Captain Check-down" to the running backs and tight ends, getting the running backs in space. Then the midrange and deep stuff will open up once that starts working.

Notre Dame has played 7 games without a break and 3 under the lights and now with the 4th under the lights with USC then we have a break. These guys were worn down.

No it is coaching. Freeman just isn’t ready for prime time. He’s coaching like a coordinator instead of a leader. Parker has been exposed. He’s who we thought he was. A guy who never should have gotten the job to begin with. The loss of hiestand has been monumental just look at how awful the offensive line has been. Golden is terrible plain and simple. Yes the players are not executing at a high level and are making a ton of mistakes. That is exactly what good coaching is supposed to address, adapt to, and correct.

I’m here to eat my crow , you’re right Sam isn’t the savior , he can’t be because we lack the attitude and fortitude upfront to allow him to be the man, and even with that , on the outside our receivers don’t make “those catches “ You were right Goolsby
