Whenever Mass Effect pops up in conversation, I feel there's an immediate leap to the choices made in Mass Effect 2 and 3. These games are excellent and I love them, but I can't help but feel like Mass Effect 1 goes on as the underappreciated one of the trilogy. Today, we stretch out into new territory continuing our old RPG recommendations with one of my very favorites.

The Mass Effect series literally changed my life... its my favourite game series by a mile, the writing and characters are amazing, and they stay with you for so long after you finish playing. Ive had pets named Garrus and Tali, and i name most of my characters in other games after ME characters. If anyone hasn't played these games they owe it to themselves to experience it
  • He ain’t wrong, playing the Legendary Edition for the 1st time through Xbox Game Pass Ultimate on the Xbox Series X was a breathtaking experience. I now understand why so many people treasure this game series so near and dear to their hearts. I was originally thinking of getting the OG trilogy on Origin on PC, but thankfully, the Legendary Edition arrived to make things so much smoother.

The Legendary Edition was so much with all the DLC included, playing as a MaleShep and FemShep is such a good experience

I had never played the trilogy before, when ME3 came out my only contact with it was of people complaining about the ending on forums on the internet. I'm a huge fan of Dragon Age, but I was never interested in space media other than the Halo games so I always dismissed it. When MELE dropped on Game Pass I gave it a shot , it took a little bit to get me on board with the lore and such but once I got into it... I'm so attached to the series all of a sudden, it's incredible storytelling. I'm through with my first full playthrough and I started it all over again already.

ME1 is my favourite. Adept without global cooldowns. Ammo mods causing floating bodies to disintegrate red, green, or blue letting me know which teammate got the killing blow...brilliant.

Love the clunky RPG mechanics from ME1. It’s genuinely my favorite of the three.

I played the Mass Effect trilogy for the first time in my life when it came to Gamepass in January and it became one of my favorite games of all time, it really is a wonderful experience

I never stopped playing 😂 Mass Effect Trilogy is the GOAT
  • Mass Effect was my favourite of the series. The story, the choices, the characters, the villains were all put together in a way that was so far beyond anything that came before! It was just so amazing! The first time you meet Sovereign was both epic and terrifying all at once! That voice, his superiority and the disdain in his tone were incredible!

Currently on my 7th full playthrough and second playthrough of legendary edition. Only 20% of the way through the first game but it still feels like a brand new and exciting game everytime I play it and the two sequels. These games are one of a kind and very rare to find any as good anymore. I pick Liara most playthroughs but I'm switching it up to Liara or Ashley for the first game and then Miranda for 2 and 3! Let me know below who you guys usually romance?
  • Replayed the trilogy last month for the first time since 2014. Back then i thought they were good games but i wasnt too amazed by them but decided to play the remasters and holy shit man, they're now some of my favorite games ever, especially 2. I even bought the mass effect complete comics book cause i needed more from mass effect lol.
  • I think my favorite part is how they went back and gave a purpose to some of the stuff from ME1 in ME3. Let's break it down. Get C-Sec to pull Rita out of the bar. Visit Conrad all three times/Save Conrad in ME2. Collect all of the ancient Asari writings scattered across the galaxy. Buy a specific store license that doesn't actually do anything. In ME3, if you have done Conrad's stuff from 1 and 2. you have to help Conrad one more time by dealing with a Cerberus agent. The agent takes a shot at Shepard but Conrad jumps in the way. Rita, if you pulled her out of the bar, disables the gun so Conrad lives. LATER Conrad has blueprints for a piece of tech that will help with the war effort but they are written in ancient Asari. Translate them with the ancient Asari writings and find out that the plans are too close to an existing patent which requires the license. All that for one small boost to your War Assets but still a fun thing that they went back and pulled together.

I don't think BioWare will ever surpass what they did with the original Mass Effect trilogy.

When I played ME1 on the Legendary Edition for the first time, I was amazed by the upgrades they made, but I also felt this amazing nostalgia. It had been years since I played the OG ME1, so replaying it, even in a newer form, made me real happy and reminded me of my childhood.

Absolutely. ME1 LE is such a must play now. The shooting still isn't the best experience, but pretty much everything is so much better than the old version, and honestly ME1 has the best story. This just makes me want for another Mass Effect, and it's ages away, even more so considering DA:D is releasing at some point HOPEFULLY next year.
  • @scarredchild
ME1 feels the most like an old lived-in-universe. Going to these mostly barren worlds and finding signs of battle or war medals makes the first game for me (beyond the story of course). Small touches will make or break Starfield.
  • @H4stur
I've just started with the Legendary edition. Having finished all three and most DLC on both X360 and PC in the past. So far I like what I see. The support for HDR is most noticeable. As it makes a huge difference with the graphical fidelity.
  • I love all 3 of these games but ME1 is a masterpiece to me. This trilogy is amazing but even better if you play it from the very beginning.
  • Drew Karpyshyn is my favorite video game writer! Mass Effect is my gold standard for intetactive storytelling. Besides the writing BioWare did an excellent job at bringing multiple well crafted pieces together (things like enviroments, music, atmosphere, alien designs and voice acting).
  • I have just started Mass Effect Legendary Edition on PS5 and I'm impressed by the gameplay and especially the writing. Excited to play through this series
