As to Kylie Minogue, you could pretty much use ANY of Kylie's hits as an example of a US flop. Her entire discography is woefully underappreciated in the US.

It's astonishing how Kylie Minogue has been a major superstar all over the world since the 1980s but in the US she just made ocassional success splashes.

Kylie and Anastacia are both tremendously popular in Europe, which sometimes makes me question the taste in music in the U.S.
  • Kylie Minigue, ABBA and Shakira are the good example to be global even without USA
  • I didn't realize ABBA wasn't a huge hit in the US. My mom used to play their music when I was younger and I have always been an enormous fan of theirs! Absolutely love ABBA! Super Trouper is so good! 😍

For me as an Aussie, When Love Takes Over was the biggest surprise as I remember it being everywhere in 2009. It was basically the Shake it Off of the late 2000s.
  • What does it tell you that all these songs flopped here EXCEPT for in the gay clubs. You can find all these songs in gay clubs. The gays know good music.

I remember "Black Magic" being a huge hit in Ireland, where I'm from, and all of the girls in my year singing to it on repeat. It was so inescapably catchy.

you could put kylie’s entire discography on this list. so many international hits, just not in the us

The fact that "I'm Not a Girl, Not Yet a Woman" wasn't a hit in the U.S. honestly shocks me. That song debuted when I was 13 years old and I distinctly remember it getting a ton of airplay - heck, in eighth grade I slow-danced to it with a girl at a school dance! They must have been trying to make it a hit, but audiences felt differently.

After the massive success of Believe, Cher released Strong Enough and it flopped in the US, only reached #57 but went top 10 almost everywhere else.

Confessions on the dance floor was an immaculate album. I feel sorry for those who didn’t appreciate its perfection.
  • "when love takes over" was huge in Mexico, you could hear it in every club, I cant believe it flopped in the US

I never understood how Little Mix wasn’t huge in the US
  • @ddjr6673
Never understood why Anastasia isn’t a HUGE star in the USA and can’t believe The Best wasn’t a MASSIVE in the USA - this is still played on the radio on AOR stations in the UK!
  • @goingplaces2274
During one of Tina's inteviews, she admitted that she is not as big in the US as she was in Europe. She gave up her American Citizenship (and of course she was married to a Swiss citizen) and settled there before she passed.
  • @anastaciamedia
I never understood why Anastacia was not successful in her own home country! Such a powerful voice and so many huge hits!!
  • Anyone who thinks Cancel culture is modern, take a look at Janet Jackson’s career. It’s not a new thing, just that those in high positions of power who got to ruin people’s careers over stupid things were the only ones where as now these days it’s more available for everyone to do so.

Rest in Peace, David Bowie, your legacy forever burns brightly. "Ashes to Ashes" is one of my favourite tracks of his.
