You know I wasn't expecting Call of Duty Black Ops Cold War to be quite as cold war as this. Probably one of my fav missions in Cold War.

I live in former East-Berlin and specialize in GDR history. In terms of realism, here are some accurate and inaccurate things I noticed just for fun if you're curious: -Accurate: 1.The subway. There were indeed ghost stations between 1961 and 1990. These were mostly downtown stations in East-Berlin but with both terminus located in West-Berlin. The trains woudn't stop there, as the access to these stations were forbidden to everyone. East-german border guards would guard them, as GDR citizens could try to use the tunnels to flee. The subway lines, S1, S2, U6 and U8 had these ghost stations. They could have taken a random station or invent one but no, they took the station Weinmeisterstraße, on line U8, which was indeed closed. + The train driver says in german at the beginning ''We'll reach the station Moritzplatz in 5 minutes''. Moritzplatz is a real station and is indeed the first station in West-Berlin after the Wall on the U8 line. Very accurate, good job. 2.The Volkspolizei(East-german police) used mostly Volga M24 cars or Lada 1500. There seem to be an attempt to portray these cars that look anyway very similar. 3.They made Berlin look like Berlin in the architecture. The northwest area of downtown Berlin where Weinmeisterstraße is, was more spared by WWII bombings, leaving a lot of the 19th century buildings intact, but in a bad shape in the 80s as we can see here. This neighborhood today is beautiful, popular but expensive. -Inaccurate: 1.The grey uniform was used by the Volksarmee(People's army). The Volkspolizei(People's police) used to wear a blue uniform like the guy on the left(4:04) and the Grenztruppen(border guards) would wear green uniforms, like the guy on the right(4:04). So these men guarding the station would have green uniforms but the police officers stepping out of the cars at 11:07 would have blue ones. 2.The guns. The East-German army and border guards used mostly AK-47 or other versions like AK-74, not MP5 3.There's western cars in East-Berlin. The most common car in East-Germany and the only one most people could afford was the Trabant model 601. It would have been realistic to see this. 4.There most likely wouldn't have been Stasi agents in uniform walking around like that. The Stasi was much more insidious, having agents hiding within the police, the border guards or the army. Most of the time, Stasi agents on duty would dress as civilians, making it impossible to know who is who and creating a totally paranoid environment. 5.Stasi agent would most likely not use the term ''Stasi'' when interacting with people(10:16). They would use the full formulation ''Staatsicherheit''(State security), from which ''Stasi'' was formed. 6.Weinmeisterstraße was not close at all from the Wall. From there, the closest area where the Wall stood, was at Nordbahnhof(north train station), around 1.4km away. 7.The Wall itself. There is at 5:07 a tower model BT-11, which is accurate, although most of the towers at the Berlin Wall were model BT-9. However, by 1981 we had reached the third and final generation of the Wall, that would remain until 1989. The wall on the western side would have been the model 75, and would have had a cylindrical top to prevent fugitives from clinging and climbing over it. The Signalzaun(signal fence) and Patrollenweg(patrol trail) are also missing here. The checkpoint would have been much more securized, with obstacles preventing fugitives in cars and trucks from driving throught it at high speed without stopping. 8. At 10:26, ''Die Mauer wird fallen''(the Wall will fall), the Stasi would have erased that in 10 minutes. But despite what I just said, it's still well done. The goal of a video game is to be fun, and this is 100%. The mission is very cool, and it's always cool to see Berlin in video games.

-East german police using MP5s, a west german weapon. -Adler talking to east german cops with the most american sounding accent, and they don't instantly go "whoa". -A lot of western cars in east berlin.
  • Even though there were flaws in the history and stuff, this mission was still sick
  • @biffmuncher23
The inconsistency of the East German, Cuban and Soviet weapons in this game is grinding my gears. Correct me if I'm wrong but I'm pretty sure the communist nations weren't arming their police and military with MP5s and M16s
  • @Shafferhead
Best part of the entire game. The cold war era has so much potential and i think this mission showed that
  • @luismedina5792
didn't think we'd be shooting at Germans again Coming back to this comment I was just 19 got a job and missed my graduation during the pandemic, gotta say it was a wild and quiet ride and yet I still moved forward.
  • @MrDukeSilverr

  • @SuperBadwilly
You can still see the difference in architecture from east Berlin to west Berlin today.
  • @kristof736
East Germans with MP5. :'D And what are those Police Cars!? Why I can't see a simple Trabant, Wartburg, or Lada?

I always heard that there was a LARGE difference between East and West Berlin; Just one look and you can see how much is was different
  • @felixespino430
Never thought we see the Berlin Wall since Black Ops 1. I like how the west side of the wall is lively while the east side is dull and reserved.
