  • Fun fact from Sonic Frontiers, Sage's VA's in both Japanese and English are also the voice of Rei Ayanami, so let's add THAT to the obvious parallels to the Titans and EVA'S

When it comes to giant bosses I usually think that the best ones are ones that make you feel like you're the size of an ant compared to this beast that you're fighting. If you have to climb up the giants body or avoid attacks that would kill you instantly if you make a mistake that would be great. Because it makes your eventual victory against a colossal enemy all the more satisfying.
  • Well, you what they say: the bigger they are, the harder they fall. and these bosses are prime examples of that!
  • Having Big Shot be the transition music for this list is somehow both unexpected and perfect in the context of the entries. I mean, who has more of a chance to be a BIG SHOT than a colossus of a boss?
  • @cdesigner9178
Okay, let's do this. Also, love how he used "Big Shot" as the song between entries. 15: Who else knew that he was going to be here? (Giant Bowser (Mario)) 14: Scarecrow is a seriously underrated villain in Batman's rogue's gallery. (Scarecrow (Arkham)) 13: Why is it that Kirby is the only Nintendo game that is credited with having so many eldritch horrors? I mean, LOOK AT THIS THING! (Quaggled Mireclops (Pikmin 3)) 12: The pattern continues; a new generation comes out, and the fanbase turns their attention of hatred onto the new game and gives the old one the credit it deserved. At least Scarlet/Violet has some of the best storytelling in the franchise to compensate for how buggy it was on release. (Eternatus (Sword & Shield)) 11: I ALWAYS got hit with the attack that turns Bayonetta back into a child, WITHOUT FAIL. (Jubileus (Bayonetta)) 10: Honestly, I see why people like Carmelita, but she's just not my style. (Giant Carmelita (Sly 3)) 9: So, despite being the poster child of the franchise, is Rathalos just... bad? Because I never hear anyone talking about the thing. (Berserk Laviente (Monster Hunter Frontier Z)) 8: I am apparently really bad at button mashing, because as soon as this colossus goes for its big bite attack to swallow Sonic whole, I always barely run out of time and have to start the fight all over again. (Giganto (Sonic Frontiers)) 7: I REALLY need to play this game. (Metal Gear Excelsus (Metal Gear Rising)) 6: Can we PLEASE get another game from this franchise already? Or at least a remaster? (Hades (Kid Icarus Uprising)) 5: This is why humanity sucks most of the time. (Malus (Shadow of the Colossus)) 4: That thing looks EPIC! (Sin (Final Fantasy X)) 3: Maybe I can stop him in time! BEAM ATTACK! (Star Dream (Kirby Planet Robobot)) 2: And this is the first boss?! (Wyzen (Asura's Wrath)) 1: Now THIS is a Titan! (Cronos (God fo War 3))
  • I know people normally go with Wyzen from Asura's Wrath, when it comes to lists like this, but I'm really hoping we see Chakravartin instead, considering his size at the end of the game eclipses Wyzen's by a massive amount.
  • Honorable Mentions: *Jergingha - The Wonderful 101 -The final boss of The Wonderful 101 goes all out with a planet-sized space station that's also a sentient transformer. *Yaldabaoth - Persona 5 -From a giant holy grail to another transformer. All leading up to the final shot right from your newly acquired persona, Satanael. Special mention goes out to Adam Kadmon at the end of Persona 5 Royal. *Mutated Heisenberg - Resident Evil Village -Magneto Van Helsing becomes a giant mechanical monster that looks like something out of Tetsuo, The Iron Man. And you go toe to toe with him in a tank before losing it in phase 2 and then regaining control to blow up Heisenberg for the final blow. *Yamata-No-Orochi - Nioh -Not to be confused with Orochi from Okami, THIS Orochi serves as the final boss of Nioh. Facing off against the 8-headed serpent atop a temple. Pro-tip: Trick Orochi into destroying the crystals to stun one of the heads. *Rykard, Lord of Blasphemy - Elden Ring -First, you face off with the God-Devouring Serpent, then you are revealed Rykard's true face. It's on the serpent's back, pulling a corpse-coated blade out of the snake's mouth, you are thrown into one last phase. Its recommended you use the spear to slay this snake.
  • @linksoni213
Glad to see Eternatus fight, one of the Hypest moments in the series, honestly fighting alongside the legendaries and that amazong song
  • 34:00 This cements the fight as on of the greatest instances of a first impression I've ever seen. Like, he becomes the size of the planet itself and Asura STILL manages to win.
  • @aruce9
really hope the corpse of king Minos or the leviathan are on this list, being able to punch a giant corpse's fists is a huge power fantasy.
  • @knux333jw
The Giant Bowser fight of the first Yoshi's Island will always be my personal favorite Giant Bowser fight. Because I feel like it captures the actual absolute terror of a giant Bowser. The way you can barely see his face anymore, the way he slowly makes his way to you and shakes the ground, the music... it just has this intense atmosphere some of the others lack for me.
  • @CountShaman
Fun fact: I go out of my way to neuter out any mention of Kingdom Hearts on this list, save actual Disney/Final Fantasy stuff. Let's just say it's payback for a future countdown lol
  • @Jackie-McCann
9:56 May be one of my favorite moments in this list. Not just because of Ari’s little musical interlude, but because of the expression of pure LOVE on Josh’s face. That isn’t the Firey Joker in that brief moment, it’s simply Josh looking at the love of his life. It’s all just so adorable. 🥰
  • @acejumper1681
I would love a countdown of bosses who you are meant to lose against to progress the game.
  • @Strykor
Josh's reaction to Ari's announcement at the end: "Heh-heh, I'm in danger."
  • 17:58 It's really nice when a Sonic boss has nothing to do with Eggman. Sure, Sage provokes Giganto, but still. Sage also shares Rei's VAs. ENG and JP
  • @angeldude101
"Why is Star Dream only number 3? She's almost the size of a planet!" sees number 2 "Oh. That's why. She's... almost ...the size of a planet."
  • How fitting that you made this video on the New York Football Giants' first playoff win in a decade. Thanks for that. In all seriousness, love your work, and wish you the best.
  • Disgaea 1 has a giant boss they use as comedy prop. "We would normally be scared of such a threat , if we could see more than just your foot!" From sarcastic teen years to scared adulthood. It's strange to think about how big the small things are , and why we look at big things.
  • I legit cried tears of joy when "Undefeatable" (side note, contextually and without context, this is now my absolute favorite Sonic boss fight theme: I've memorized the lyrics it's so damn good...yes, I love it more than "What I'm Made Of", "Open Your Heart", and "Live & Learn"...fight me >:3) started playing at the beginning of that fight: just...the moment you grab that 7th Chaos Emerald and Sonic shoots up in to the sky like a golden comet and slowly descends with a disapproving glower that turns in to that smug smirk...such a beautiful moment. It really is just that look that screams "Hope you're ready, 'cause it's about to get REAL up in here." And yes, to those who haven't played Sonic Frontiers yet, your ears did not deceive you: Josh DID just say that Giganto is the FIRST boss! You know it's going to be a GOOD Sonic game when it treats the FIRST boss fight the way most Sonic games treat their FINAL boss fights! I just wish THIS game treated its final boss fight better. Oh don't worry, Supreme is a pretty good battle...but it's not the final boss, because he's not The End. Yeah, for being a literal moon of destruction, The End is kinda...meh (seriously, if I had a nickel for every time I fought a celestial body and it turned out to be kinda mid...I'd have two nickels, which isn't a lot, though it's weird that it happened twice); I feel like we could have gotten a fight on a grander scale, going around punching this thing, barely making a dent in it, showing how imposing this thing really is, and even having its attacks hurt you by taking away rings, which would show just how DANGEROUS this thing is considering there aren't many things capable of taking away Super Sonic's rings. Also, maybe just a nitpick from me, but I feel like "I'm With You", the beautiful instrumental theme for The End's fight, is missing lyrics: like, I can hear the lyrics screaming behind closed lips, and I so DESPERATELY want to hear them sing! Maybe later down the road we'll get a better, more complete-feeling fight, but eh...semantics. At least the other boss fights more than make up for the meh final fight.
