This is the first video of a two-part series in which I review Askar's latest astrograph, the awesome Askar 151 PHQ, a monster 6" refractor with a 1,050mm focal length. In the next video, we will go over the results of a series of quantitative and qualitative optical tests I am currently running on this telescope and its reducer.

Looking forward to your review and thoughts on this scope. It will be interesting to see how well correct the colors are.

Wow I am really looking forward to part two. Particularly the longitudinal abberation test. I hope you go into sufficient detail that someone could build their own rig. I've always been fascinated by those graphs that some manufacturers provide for their telescopes. I guess making a spot diagram is out of the question? I think those are made with models of the optics rather than empirically measured.

Wow, it's a monster! Curious to see your mount setup and how it goes with the weight.

Thanks for part1, will there be a part 2? Why do you think the am5 can't handle it? Max load is 20kg, this is 15 with all the Guidescopes etc
  • @lavers_1
nice scope! can you please give a link to that telescope cover too

Merci pour cette présentation. Je suis intéressé par le modèle 130PHQ (sur une AZEQ6), l'optique est-elle comparable (juste plus petite) ? Par contre, le prix pique un peu chez nous :(
  • One issue I have with Askar is providing focal reducers with only 55mm of back focus distance. This isn't enough for all the little devices some of us like to put into our optical chains, such as OAGs, filter wheels, camera rotators, and such. I've contacted them regarding the need for FRs with greater back focus distance. If you believe similarly, could you please reinforce this position with them?

Where is the "unboxing" I couldn't find it in this video.
  • @mardy2630
You said you would tell us if you bought it at the end of the video, but never did,. I'm guessing from the smile that you did.
