In early 2023 I had an unexpected illness and was admitted to hospital for 8 days. While I was healing my Sister and Brother In Law went to my place to look after my cat Pepper who was otherwise on her own for the duration. She's a small Black short-haired cat who I adopted from a rescue place. She's lived with me for 7 years now and is very close. I work from home and when I am out it is never for more than a few hours. So for me to be gone for 8 days with no preparation would have been a big shock for her. Anyway, when I got out of Hospital and got home she was literally all over me and didn't leave me alone for days. She loves to sleep on my lap when am chilled out in front of the TV and follows me around the flat. She's a lovely cat. Have had cats for most my life and they all have their own personalities and are all a lot of fun to hang out with.

When I was a teenager, I went to England for 2 months, when I came in the back door I’ll never forget how he screamed the biggest meow and ran up to me, when I picked him up he wrapped his paws around me and snuggled his head into my chest, I carried him around like that for some time, I got a photo of it, makes me cry every time I see it

The furry shadow is never annoying. ❤

My cat talks my ears off when I come home from work. He even tries to go into my backpack. I kind of want to find a way to get a special backpack for him. But he fears strangers. I love him so much. I'm omw home now, I can't wait to see him.

Never annoying to have a furry shadow❤❤❤

My furry shadow wont leave me alone, she is by my side 24/7, except of course for when ai leave. She’s snuggling me right now. Whenever I come back home, no matter how long I’ve been gone she greets me at the door purring and meowing. She’s the sweetest.

When I left for 18 months, my cat would sit by the door waiting for me when I usually came home. When I called my parents, he would look for me. When I got home, he, at first, was distant but quickly understood that it was me. He was not happy I had left him for that long period but he was happy to see me. My current cat gets clingy when I come home after being gone for a few weeks (I work away from home from time to time).

My 9 year old boys have always had the same cat sitter. They still show signs of missing me. Asher will not show him any affection to cat sitter until day 12 of when I once went away for 15 days ❤

Two solutions come to mind. 1) Get an animal companion for your cat. 2) A less practical solution would be...stay home. I did get some xhuckles from this video, because basically that is how cats think.

1:20 I once packed a box of items (books etc.) because I was going away to another city to study and mine and my parents' cat just climbed into the box and looked straight at me as if to say: "Don't you dare!"

I did get another cat for my cat. Now, when i have to go out for a doctor’s appt or to “ hunt” for food at the market, my cat doesn’t get lonely. Luckily the 2 cats quickly became best friends. And when i come home, they both come to greet me. I can’t go on a vacation, though. I don’t trust anyone to take care of them like I do.

Cat hair on your clothes is a heck of a lot better than Cat piss on your clothes

Huh well there is another sign perhaps more likely with an older kitty. My fluff is 19 and we had a roommate of which my fluff had bonded with while I worked at another location off and on. Roommate moved on and I am not traveling anymore, however, my fluff appears to miss the roommate by going to the room the roommate was in and meowing then staring at me as if to say "where?" No issues with litter box use or damage of anything.....just this forlorn look my fluff gets and his meow at the room. Age maybe? I just pick him up, give him lots of love and try to engage him in activity like a ride in the cat stroller or a toy, or sometimes food.

My kitty decided I was having trouble hunting, so he brought me a squirrel, haha!
  • @jdbrown1964
The food hunting reason is sooo freakin cute!

Cats and rabbits definitely miss their owners when they are well bonded. My bro moved home after his first marriage broke up, and he had this cat. He had to go away for a few days to work out of town, and when he returned the cat was definitely excited. She meowed like she was trying to exclaim something.
