She is Slayin' it! Fun fact: the lead singer's name is Brittney Slayes (of the band Unleash the Archers)
  • @maskmedusa
It's so astounding, even live on video, but live in person is like going to another galaxy... I was fortunate to see two of these shows.

The whole concert was absolutely incredible. They even played The Day that the World Breaks down live! I'd like you to check this out, as well as the 6th Extinction. Tons of good music. Whatever you pick out of Arjen's huge catalogue, you won't be disappointed. The live shows are always performed in Tilburg, Netherlands, and there is already talk of another one in 2025. So if you could make it (which I highly recommend), it's absolutely worth it.

The lyrics are "The Fate Of Man are in his hand".. The song is about the robot soldiers from the Terminator movies and I believe specifically the one sent back in time to save mankind.

Hi Saeed, if you want another live banger from Ayreon try this one (Everybody Dies Live): https://youtu.be/9AAXtUdM7xE?si=SiEdUg7Bk0dGcUtY. Btw....The Fate of Man is from the Star One album "Rebel in Time". Star One is another project of Arjen Lucassen. The songs on this album are based on Sci-Fi movies. Arjen words about this track: “This fast and furious album opener is the second video clip/single of the new Star One album Revel In Time. The lyrics are inspired by the movie Terminator. For me this is the most Star One-ish track on the album, reminiscent of “Set Your Controls” from the first Star One album Space Metal. The lead vocals are by the amazingly talented singer Brittney Slayes of Unleash the Archers and the virtuoso guitar solo is by none other than Michael Romeo of Symphony X. One of my own favorite tracks on the album. I hope you like it too, enjoy! Video clip edited by Dave Letelier… in true Terminator style :-)” Keep up the awesome work Saeed and can't wait to see your reaction to "Everybody Dies" 😊. Greetings from the Netherlands, Marti
  • Being there was a life changing experience for me. I divide time into "before Ayreon 2023" and "time beyond Ayreon 2023". I never ever in my 68 years existence witnessed such an epic mindblowing concert. And I witnessed quite a lot.

Actually the lyrics tells the whole story of the first Terminator. First part, it is the Terminator coming back to "reshape the future changing the past" to the machines' advantage (and the fate of man is in his hands). Second, it's Kyle Reese coming back to stop the Terminator and save "the love of his life" (little spoiler here 😁). At the end, when the cycle's complete and the timeline is restored, "the fate of man now in our hands". Which is perhaps what we should be worried about 😂😂

@Saeed Reacts: Hey Saeed! You just heard one of my favorite vocalists: Brittney Slayes of Unleash the Archers! She is known as "The Female Bruce Dickinson," having a similar style to Bruce Dickinson of Iron Maiden. If you want a comparable live performance, check out Iron Maiden performing Hallowed Be Thy Name, live at the Hammersmith, in 1982. There, you'll learn why Bruce Dickinson became known as "The Human Air Raid Siren." That said, Fate of Man is a song about the very first Terminator movie from 1984. In the lyrics, it references several lines in the movie, including actor Michael Biehn (as Kyle Reese) describing the T-800 to Sarah Connor in a car (played by Linda Hamilton). It also references Arnold Schwarzenegger's iconic line of, "I'll be back." Additionally, no other Terminator movie has any other human character going back in time, as the other time-travel movies are machine vs machine, such as Schwarzenneger's T-800 going against Robert Patrick's T-1000 in T-2: Judgment Day. That said, Ayereon is what I call "The All-Star Game of Metal." Arjen Lucassen, the genius behind Ayereon, invites the biggest names in metal to sing or perform on his projects, like having 11 singers on "The Day That The World Breaks Down." On Fate of Man, one of the backup singers is Floor Jansen's sister, Irene Jansen, a singer in her own right. That said, Arjen chose Brittney for Fate of Man for a few reasons. First, because of Bruce Dickinson's agent, Bruce was unavailable to actually perform Fate of Man. Second, this performance would not have been possible if someone had not recorded Brittney singing karaoke in Scotland, after the last show of Unleash the Archers' 2017 European tour. The song Brittney sang for karaoke? Queen of the Reich by Queensryche -- originally performed by Geoff Tate of Queensryche in his prime. And Brittney blew the roof off of that Scotland pub. And when Arjen Lucassen saw that video, he was so impressed that he decided to give Fate of Man to Brittney then and there (after she accepted, of course). It is also fitting, because Brittney is a huge sci-fi and fantasy nerd. So much so that Unleash the Archers' two albums, plus the current album Phantoma, are all stories. Phantoma is about an Android wanting to live among humans, while Apex album and Abyss album together tell the epic tale of the Immortal versus the Matriarch, with each track of Apex and Abyss, in order, being a "chapter" of the story. That said, check out Unleash the Archers! You can start with Awakening as many do, or you could start with Abyss, which hits you from jump and doesn't stop until the end of the song -- just so you can see the talent Brittney is normally performing wlth. Lastly, in Canada, Unleash the Archers won a Canadian Juno Award, a Canadian Grammy basically, for the album Abyss, when it won 2020 Metal Album of the Year in Canada. Trust me, if you liked Brittney singing Fate of Man here, you'll love her singing in the tracks of Unleash the Archers. Brittney is at the level of Floor Jansen, and finally, we get a live performance of Brittney that does her vocals justice.
  • @Elviolli
You were thinking of Hollywood Squares :)
  • @Bonovin
Brittney Slays stepped in when Floor was highly pregnant and waiting her 2nd child , Lucy. Brittney from Unleash the archers doing a good job

Hey Saeed, you missed out on a great party in Tilburg last september man. Brittney Slayes indeed slayed all her parts in this show. As did all the other singers and musicians (of which there were many in this show). I can recommend checking out the other songs from this show, or the previous ones (all in Tilburg). Ayreon doesn't tour and they only put up a show every so many years because of the insane logistics of all the big names that need to be at the same place at the same time. But do not fret, it has all but confirmed there will be a next time.
  • @shoemaker688
This is storytelling too, and Britney sung the original version too. That was not Floor. They Ayreon Angels do some very great background vocals here! Nice rection.
