Explanation to this issue: The devs love Physics theories so much they decided to add Primordial Black Holes into the game, which every once in a while decide to swallow an item, hope this helps!

This is not a bug, it's the only way to balance out the duping bug with crafting a few snapshots ago.

Yes, this bug was already in the game in 1.20, and it was VERY frustrating. I noticed it by building a Multi-item sorter , but when i wanted to do the filters, this bug broke the whole machine. I tried hours to fix it, but I failed. I haven't played Minecraft since then. Fun fact: if you later truly pick up a type of item that has disappeared, you will sometimes get back the lost items.

I’ve actually come across this bug in servers in all the newer versions (1.20+), occasionally when I’m throwing things out of my creative inventory to someone some items will just up and vanish, but it’s only like 1-2 items max per stack, and it only happens if I throw it out all at once

In the case of throwing some of a stack of items, this is apparently intentional. There's code where every time an item or stack of items is dropped from a creative inventory slot, a counter goes up by 20. The counter is decreased by 1 every tick if it's above 0. If the counter is above 200 when items are dropped from a slot, they'll be deleted instead.

It seems like something like that breaking means they're modifying old code to allow for datapack customization of that part. Maybe we'll get an advancement trigger for when a player drops an item on the ground, we already have one for when they pick one up.

Lol, this is like a 1.7-1.10 glitch where you drop items by hovering and pressing 'q' with your inventory open. They would visually drop, and you can pick up the item (it is real), but it never left your inventory - just open a chest.

The fact pheonix has to seriously prove his innocence in causing this, even though I don’t think he’s ever actually lied about issues, is pretty funny. Also, damn 1.21 has a lot of teething problems. I know they changed a lot, so it’s fair, but still kinda surprising what random stuff can break.

This reminds me of a bug from a while ago where picking up items in creative would delete any items that should go into your survival inventory unless you had your inventory open to the survival inventory page while you picked them up. It’s not the same but the creative inventory has been broken for a while now
