  • One minor correction to be made for historical accuracy: At about 1:55 a photo is labelled 1927 Princess Gates to CNE. This should be Princes' Gates (Prince - plural, possessive) dedicated to Edward, Prince of Wales, (the future King Edward VII) and his brother Prince George who visited Toronto that year.

Great old photos. Would have loved someone to buy the corner of Bay and King for me around 1920. I could have sold it to the TD Bank to build that lovely Black Tower.

I love historic architecture. This is what makes a city alive and proud. So sad Torontonians don’t have the culture of preserving old buildings.

Thank you so much for this video! I know they take a lot of work to put together. I am amazed at the number of older buildings that still survive after 100 years. At 2:03 They are the "Prince's Gates" as they were opened by Edward VIII and Albert (Future George VI) who were the Prince's at the time as Dad (George V) was still King. I see someone else has made that comment as well. Just giving some historical background as to why they are called that. Again - thank you for putting this video together.

I walk along most of these streets everyday. It's crazy to see what they looked like half a century or especially 150 years ago. It's really changed.
  • That was some really great stuff! Thank you very much for sharing!! Go Toronto!!!

Oh, a time when the buildings in toronto had history. Its kind of sad to see so many of these beautiful buildings torn down to be replaced by generic gross steel and glass condos...
