Let's be real, a large chunk of people aren't Digimon fans because of the games, they are fans because of the show.
-
As a Digimon fan, you have no idea how right you are about the "fandom that has been hurt over and over, trying to hang on to something good"
-
"Big Worm starts off as a lizard! That is the opposite of how evolution works!" Wait until she finds out where snakes came from it'll blow her mind.
-
I will say, 'landing in a mysterious land and fighting for you life while strangers who love you cheer you on' is more or less how the digimon show starts
-
Jaiden went from being an animator who likes pokemon to a pokemon player who likes animation
-
"I played the game, hated it but somehow still like Digimon" is honestly a great summary of what it's like being a Digimon fan.
-
Man, after working so hard to learn how this game worked, it sure is quite a thing to see someone experience THAT FEELING OF "WHAT IS HAPPENING, WHAT SHOULD I DO?!"
-
Yeah... A lizard turning into a sea snake isn't the weirdest digivolution you can see...
-
I love how Jaiden came out of this being like "I hated this so much, it was agony! But Digimon's kinda cool." which apparently is every Digimon fan's opinion on it.
-
You've learned the real lesson of Digimon games: You don't find a Digimon game you like playing, you allow a Digimon game to rewire your sense of fun until you're the kind of person who likes the game that's been driving you mad for hours.
-
As a fan of both pokemon and digimon they are very different in my opinion. Id say give digimon survive a chance. Its an amazing game but mostly a visual novel. It doesn’t require any prior knowledge of digimon and is an incredible story. Though my advise is if you do play it avoid any spoilers. Its a one of a kind experience
-
I really hope you give this series another chance with games like Cyber sleuth, and digimon survive. I also agree with the guy suggesting Shin Megami Tensei.
-
“When it comes to monsters and creatures, I have to admit, I am an edgy bitch” that’s it, Jaiden’s greatest quote.
-
as someone who grew up with this game, i went from “oh she didn’t like it?” to “yeah i remember that…oh yeah i remember that too…” amazing what the child brain puts up with
-
Digimon cybersleuth and hacker's memory are both good digimon games. I would love to see and animashion of you playing cybersluth and your reaction to the story. 10/10 good game.
-
Cyber Sleuth is a good game, particularly on the switch where you can cheese XP by leaving your system on. The only complaint I had about it was some very spotty localization. The Golden path through the story is fine but any side road you travel, and you have to travel on a lot of them, get very "all your base are belong to us" very fast.
-
Jaiden went through arguably one of the more painful games, start to finish, and came out more of a fan of digimon. Absolute chad.

2 videos in a month? Jaiden is truly a gift giver

Digimon World is a chill game. It is an accurate representation of the Digimon concept. Everything you do in the game does advance your progress. A mon dying is a part of it. The cycle of raising a mon effectively is the main gameplay loop. Then there's exploration that results in getting things that make raising a mon much easier. I would recommend going in blind, but having a guide ready if you ever feel a little stuck or confused. In general the game gives you a lot of info if you talk to everyone in the city. The slow upgrading of the city is also really rewarding. Raising mons may feel like a bit of a grind, but you get into a comforting daily routine.

The show is the one true thing that holds the fandom together, I never even looked into the games because I just knew they were terrible after one itsy bitsy look at them
