Equipped with an AMD Athlon 64 X2 4600+ CPU from 2006, 3GB of RAM in single channel, a HDD and a GeForce GT 430 1GB, this machine cost me 40€ here in Portugal. In this video I try to play some popular games on it, it was a terrible idea...

    That isn't a cd drive, it's a cup holder :)

Definitely looks like the GPU has a lot more to give but the CPU isn't letting it. Would love to see a separate Sunday video focusing on just the GT 430!

These videos are true gems! Keep them up, master!

This would have been a good retro PC with Windows XP and Games from the 2003-2007 era. Like Half Life 1 and 2, Doom 3, Call of Duty 1 and 2, and F.E.A.R. for example.
  • after browsing through so many channels. Yours is by far the best. The explaining thod is so great and detailed even complex stuff is
  • man ! this remind me of the first time i switched from an integrated GPU from an Abit MoBo with a Celeron 1.8 Ghz CPU to an Nvidia GT 5200 AGP 128 Mo Vram and it was night and day , Star Wars Jedi's Academy was going from 10 to 15 FPS to a staggering 40 to 50 FPS on 800X600 resolution on my HP CRT 17 Inch monitor , and from then it got in my blood , the need for more FPS as time goes on and all the knowledge it cames with , what a journey !

Hi from France my friend !! Good vibes on your videos, I like it !! Keep goin’ 👍🏻
  • Basically RAM is a main issue. 3 GB is is simply not enough for Win 10, especially if you do not debloat. For Win 7 computer it would be fine .
  • I swear my first PC was something I found in the trash and it performed better than thisXD still amazing deal atleast you can play minesweeper at 4K 60 fps.
  • @naat7565
Zwormz you need to upgrade the cpu, and for 40€ it's a great deal 👍🏻

I have the same GT 430, but with 4GB VRAM. I have overclocked the GPU core to 850MHz and memory to 910MHz. It's still working 6 years later (With OC) and the temp doesn't go above 70 degrees. Very reliable GPU!

13 years hardware, there's almost been that time that I've not saw an DVD player anymore, wow...

A follow up using 6 or 8 GB ddr2@800mhz running in dual channel mode (3gb is running interleaved mode, so 2GB is dual channel and when it needs more an additional 1GB is available in single channel and seeing as its Windows 10 it'll mostly be running the games in single channel 667mhz RAM, but also needing to use the harddrive for swap space) and an ssd. Dual channel ddr2@800 and an ssd will make a world of difference so its be cool to see a video comparing the system as it is and with those tiny changes. Running Windows 7 as well.

Oh i had pc with athlon x2 and 2 gigs of ddr 2 ram on it, i remember playing Wolverine game between like 10-15fps but still I completed the game because I loved it. Good old days 😀.
  • @r1ftzy
You should use windows 7 when testing old hdd and cpu It runs way faster
  • @marsellusbrel
That's exactly the same CPU I had on the first PC I bought, it came with 2gb of RAM. I still have that motherboard and I upgraded it with the Athlon 64 x2 6000+ and 2x2GB @800mhz and I got the same cooler as yours. I haven't tested games with the upgrades, but I'm confident it can run GTA V loaded on an SSD, running on Windows 7 and with Radeon HD x2900.
  • @lukasgroot
Lol that joy on your face when you get a kill at 10fps 😃
