I know which Marvel Comics story would be perfect to bring Doctor Doom into the MCU in Marvel Studios' upcoming Avengers: Doomsday. At this year's San Diego Comic-Con, Marvel boss Kevin Feige confirmed the new title for the fifth Avengers movie, which was originally set to focus on Jonathan Majors' Kang the Conqueror as Avengers: The Kang Dynasty. Now named Avengers: Doomsday, the movie is set to reintroduce Robert Downey Jr. to the MCU as iconic Marvel villain Doctor Doom, who will debut under the guidance of directing duo the Russo brothers.
While some have criticized the decision to bring back MCU legend Robert Downey Jr. as Doctor Doom, I am incredibly excited about this casting choice. Downey Jr. is a supremely talented actor who certainly has the range to go from playing Tony Stark's Iron Man to Victor Von Doom's Doctor Doom, so I'm not worried about this at all. In fact, I think I've worked out which Marvel Comics storyline could form the basis for Phase 6's upcoming Avengers: Doomsday, which could debut Doctor Doom as early as 2025's The Fantastic Four: First Steps.

It is portrayed in the trailer as if Dr. Doom is a good character who wants to protect Earth. But that's not the case in the old films or in the comics. Furthermore, RDJ was not introduced as a Tony variant, but as Victor van Doom, who perhaps coincidentally has a familiar face. But it is also a character who wears this mask all the time to hide his face from the world and to evoke fear.
