Much of the Brazilian rosewood was felled over a century ago for very large infrastructure projects, especially railway systems throughout South America. Yes, vast amounts of Brazilian for railroad ties, not furniture or musical instruments. Think about it.

That's not stump wood at all. That's got curl. Stump wood usually has none of the dark lines to it. These days I'd guess a set like that would sell for $800 to $900
