This is such a perfect movie moment. After years of utter neglect and abuse, Celie gets the most beautiful song sung to her and she finally feels like she exists! Wow. Powerful moment
-
When she was done and Celie stuck her tongue out at the heffasđđđ
-
The way Celie keeps hiding her smile is one of the most adorable and sweetest things in the movie.
-
âIâm something .. i hope you think that youâre something too ââ€ïž
-
Whoopi was just beautiful in this scene.
-
i have never heard anyone hum with so much soul
-
Whoopie should have won an oscar for the color purple !! this moment of the movie is priceless "!

This scene made me tear up. Shoutouts to Shug for putting some respect on Celieâs name. This was the most love Celie has gotten since Nettie left years ago. Shoutouts to Sofia as well. She acknowledges Celieâs presence and she was the admiration Celie needed to get the guts to read Mister for filth.

one of the greatest moments in film. never gets old.
-
sang this to my lil sister at her bridal shower.... she helped me when I didn't believe in myself. i wanted her to know she is strong and beautiful like our mother raised us.
-
My sweet twin passed away 10 months ago. She sang this song to someone we both love who was dealing with domestic abuse. I canât stop crying.
-
This scene always gets me! Itâs deeper than 400 years of oppression, of systematic genocide, and of hate, of a system always putting us against each other. No matter what period in time, it all comes down to this, you will always be my sister.
-
"Cuz she scratches out my head when I was ailing" Thats a sista for ya!
-
Haha., Mister was feeling very salty...
-
That look on Mister's face when he realizes that Shug is showing love to Celie? PRICELESS !!!!!
-
"Miss Celie Blues" true classic! Who's still listening in 2020?!

The beauty of this is... she said "thank you" in front of everyone. Shining the spotlight on the REAL star.
-
The beauty of this whole scene is Mister in the background SEETHING that Shug is fond of Celie and the song is about her!

Just watched this film for the first time ever yesterday, and I was so taken aback by how beautiful it was. The women just... glowed. They shined. It made me feel so many things, and it gave me such an empowering perspective on African-American women. So strong. So beautiful. I wish my culture appreciated our women in general, but colorism and sexism still exists in my country. I am trying to just absorb the power African-American women went and continues to go through. You women are so beautiful.
