Schubert: Symphony in C major "The Great" / Munich Philharmonic Orchestra

This particular symphony is full of melody with a controlled, sustained finale. Schubert was a maestro in every sense.

increible. las texturas complejas y la cascada de armonías que solo se logran con instrumentos cuidadosamente seleccionados, tocados por gente altamente entrenada, toda junta en el mismo lugar. La civilización occidental tendrá todo lo malo que tiene, pero esto... Esto es la gloria de siglos de recursos humanos puestos en alcanzar la belleza máxima, no existe nada mas noble.

Y ver la locación, la orquesta todos concentrados en hacer bien las cosas, su director llanamente vestido y dirigiendo con alegría, el escogimiento de música de Shubert.........!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ME HA CONMOCIONADO !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!. Pues sus notas musicales rompen esquemas de la tradicional música sinfónica. Y ahora mi vagabundeada es mas rítmica y ya no pateo piedrecillas, tan solo me robo flores de los prados de los Andes ecuatorianos y resonando cual eco en mi mente esta sinfonía. Funny how I grew up listening to classical music for all my life, yet never gave Schubert’s music much thought. I just happened to hear this on SiriusXM one day and it is one of my top three symphonies.

Today is Schubert's birthday January 31st This wasn't played in his lifetime but first by Mendelssohn and his friend Schuman loved it ❤

Incredible interpretation, I've never heard this take on Schubert's 9th. Also noteworthy I LOVED how he repeatedly acknowledged his orchestra. Music is the universal language. F politics.

To those who are concerned that this symphony is titled as "No.8", it depends on which system you use for numbering the symphonies. The last four Schubert symphonies all have different numbers depending on which system is used. This is why I search for "Schubert symphony great" when looking for this work. This symphony may appear as 7, 8, 9, or 10 depending on which scheme is used. It is not worth putting up a fuss over, and certainly not worth the vitriol seen from a few here. I prefer "No. 9" myself, but it's really okay if it says "No. 8", "No. 7", or even "No. 10". The important thing is that the word "Great" in the title accurately identifies this symphony.
