The Dark Side of Motown They Hid From You For Years (Abuses, Murd3rs..)
Michael Eric Dyson, the individual who, through his celestial sound and divine art, dispelled the demons for millions, grappled with his own internal struggles throughout his life. This poignant journey reached a tragic conclusion on April 1, 1984, when Marvin Gaye, one day shy of his 45th birthday, was fatally shot by his own father. Marvin Gaye's demise, marked by a clear-cut "gunshot wound to chest perforating heart, lung, and liver," as stated by the Los Angeles County Coroner, was entangled in a complex web of events. This included a longstanding childhood conflict with his father, Marvin Gay, Sr., a Hebrew Pentecostal Church preacher enforcing a rigid moral code on his four children, a dynamic that persisted throughout their lives.

  • I am really tired of this A.I. narrator voice. And l am tired of the mispronunciation strewn throughout the video.

My mother (R.I.P.) was one of the biggest Marvin Gaye fans EVER. We met him at The Warehouse Record store in Baldwin Hills back in the 80s when I was a kid. He gave my mother the shades he had on and she screamed and cried. When he was killed it shattered her. She played his songs for DAYS throughout the house on the record player. My mother passed away in 2017 and every time I hear a Marvin Gaye song I get emotional.
  • I never forget i was 10yrs old outside with friends playing hopscotch with the radio on, n they announced Marvin Gaye had died my friend cried so hard that she made us all cry. Rip Marvin

Can’t say hard drugs or sexual? What the hell is up with all of the unnecessary censorship? This is ridiculous! We are grown!

not only the many mispronunciations that make me think its a robot, but saying Florence Ballard in 1986…(when she passed a decade earlier) just bothers me more than it should

Several of the DeBarge family spoke of their father SA them in their early childhoods. That experience is most likely the root of their troubled lives.
  • Although famed in the spotlights, we expect celebrities to be perfect. When they're (in fact) humans with flaws, like everyone else.

They forgot to mention the Temptations they had the most problems

I was a manager for ASCAP and Motown was a publisher in the ASCAP organization.( Joblett publishing) Berry Gordy didn't pay a lot of the artist their royalties for performances and record sales. He took that money and just built Motown. People like Mary Wells and others didn't get monies that were owed them. Smokey Robinson is an ASCAP composer, he got his royalties but many of the groups that were supposed to get performance royalties from selling millions of records never saw a dime. That's the one thing I hate about Motown it's a secret that most people don't know and the royalties of the performers built Motown. Even Holland, Dozier, and Holland the songwriters had to go to court to get their fair share of their royalties. We remember that case. This is behind the scenes story that most people don't know about Berry Gordy & Motown. When you don't pay people for their record sales and their royalties you have nothing to build on in the future. Where is Motown today??
  • Omgosh how I adored Marvin Gaye. He had a rough childhood with his dad and of course ending as well. Talent isn’t a strong enough word to describe him and such a gentle soul. Even more respect he was candid in the early 80’s in an interview on YouTube he had bipolar and having it myself I can’t imagine dealing with the fame and family dynamic with this cruel disorder. This was when people didn’t talk openly about it before the “end the stigma” modern society. He had 3 suicide attempts in the 70’s. RIP Sweet Prince The world is a far lesser place without you.❤

By God's grace I'm more than happy with my 9 to 5. My heart cries for all those celebrities who endure so much pain to get their fortune.

Marvin Gaye and Tammi Terrell, what a tragedy after such a sweet start.
