The Lost Child 2000
A young married woman learns that she is a Navajo; she was stolen at birth and raised by an upper middle class Jewish family in the eastern United States. The woman's family must deal with her desire to move West, to explore her real culture and past. Her adoption was never kept secret from Rebecca, who grew up with a caring family. But things change when her adoptive mother passes away and her father marries a woman who has no interest in his child. Rebecca joins the Navy and later marries Jack Miller. She and Jack have two daughters of their own. After Rebecca's father dies, she turns to the Internet to try to find her biological family. In response to her search, Rebecca is contacted by a woman on a Navajo reservation who is looking for twin siblings who were stolen from her mother soon after they were born. As they talk, the women realize that they are sisters. Rebecca decides to take her children to meet her family on the reservation. Her father and sister begin to introduce her to the customs and language of the Navajo people. When Jack comes to visit, the differences between the two cultures rise to the surface and Rebecca must try to integrate the old and new so that her whole family can be together. Based on a true story.
