Kruger Park, in South Africa, offers a whole range of safari options, from budget to luxury experiences. Kruger has so different ways to explore the South African Bush and it can be pretty overwhelming figuring out all the possibilities. Come along with us as we try a bunch of experiences and hopefully provide you with much more information to help you when planning your own trip to Kruger. WHERE WE STAYED:

nThambo Tree Camp (goo.gl/maps/2UhUzxF7rCocQj3h9?entry=yt) - This charming village of treehouses is tucked away in the Klaserie Private Reserve, on the western border of Kruger. There are no fences so animals drink from the pool and wander under the cabins at night! This luxury stay cost us $270 (4,974 Rand) a night for each of us, but it also included all our meals, private game drives on the reserve, and had a more personal experience than the public park.

Lower Sabie Rest Camp (goo.gl/maps/7F2dE6gA1q1ey6rj7?entry=yt) - Nestled in the southeast of Kruger, this public camp's location is ideal for animal spotting. Elephants, lions, hippos, you name it -- it's here. We stayed in a bungalow (cost 1,976 Rand or $110 USD for 1 night) and then in a hut (cost 845 Rand or $46 USD for 1 night).

Skukuza Rest Camp (goo.gl/maps/qPrj7hPAbpdDyTUT7?entry=yt) - This public camp is further north of Lower Sabie, and its large campus has a variety of accommodation and dining options. We stayed in a safari tent (cost 760 Rand or $41 USD for 1 night).

  • This comparison of the different lodging and food options is by FAR the best video on YT. Thank you so much. It will be much more affordable than I realized. How much were the hotels? What was the price of your fish and chips? How much for a round of golf ⛳️

I don't drive and want to save money BUT my question is: besides being fed, would I be missing anything staying at a public rest camp and then booking day drives as opposed to staying with a traditional company who has their own lodging and feeds and drives me for several days? Are the tours as good? The DIY sounds complex. Is it comperable? And if not, any budget companies can you recommend? I'm thinking 4 nights for under 900 but I'm flexible

Do we have to book in advance for a guided tour at Public Safari Camp: Lower Sabie or they are available

It looks like you rented a car Hoesdpruit airport Eastgate. How long was the drive from nThambo to Lower Sabi rest camp? Was it drivable in a day?
