5-year terminal GBM thriver still has no evidence of active cancer 3 years after last recurrence

Ian is a profound inspiration after surviving 5 years with glioblastoma multiforme after being given at "good" prognosis (by GBM standards) of 2 years. Even more amazing is that, after a recurrence at the 2-year mark, he's now had no evidence of active cancer for three years. Stories of thriving after recurrence are all too rare and I can't thank the Coopers enough for sharing theirs.

What is extra inspiring to me is that, just like Ian, I have brain radiation necrosis from my four previously-treated brain tumors despite being cancer-free. I suffer the same aphasia & periodic seizures. Seeing him and Abby together is like seeing Brad and me from a different angle - except we're not nearly as sweet. Too often the effects of cancer treatment are more heinous than the disease itself.

In this video, Ian and his wife Abby talk about the therapies they use. From the conventional like surgery, chemo & Avastin to the more cutting edge like keto, fasting, off label drugs & supplements, Optune™, and HBOT.

Side note - I first discovered Abby during my recovery while searching for recipes that fit my new way of eating. I've followed her at www.instagram.com/stemandspoon/ since before I was NED and make her zucchini bread at least once a month stemandspoon.com/keto-zucchini-bread-gf-paleo-dair… I was only honored to meet Ian recently and am amazed how similar our stories are.

This interview was recorded for the upcoming CANCER/EVOLUTION docuseries but, even though it hasn't been professionally edited, the story is too inspiring not to share now.

Ian and Abby, you are the sweetest people ever. Thank you so much for sharing your story. It is so touching and heartwarming. If there is ever anything we can do for you please do not hesitate to ask!
  • You both are amazing. Your story touches one's heart. What you all have been through. Prayers for you both to be totally well. My husband has just completed chemotherapy for a tumor that came on suddenly and was inoperable. We understand the journey of sickness. It is a journey to wellness. Praying for wellness and happiness for you both.

I came across a guy that is doing surgery differently and its working! Instead of taking out the bulk tumor he goes outward where its growing. Chemo the tumor. Years later a big difference in scans compared to regular surgery.
  • Could it be that the Lord is blessing you and he wants you to tell your story because people need to hear it. Thank you Lord for your blessings for this young man and his family. Continue success and may God bless you.

How long have you had radiation necrosis and what has helped relieve the symptoms? My sister just had her 3rd infusion of Avastin but nothing has gotten better. She still have terrible aphasia, can't spell very well and has lost half of her vision. I'm trying to convince her to try keto...not sure if keto helps radiation necrosis but it's probably won't hurt.
