In this video I discuss methods for casting and explain the nature of plaster and hydrostone and how it behaves inside the mold. I’m also sharing with you some wonderful techniques to eliminate air bubbles and explain why air bubbles occur. It is my hope that this video aides you in creating your own successful castings.

If you have a palm sander you can place it against the mold and the vibration will jiggle loose a lot if not most of the air bubbles.

I'm wondering if there is a formula for mixing plaster and water to make it liquid enough to use as slip cast. My idea is to use the plaster instead of clay and make hollowed figurines.

the reason it works so well is that it is breaking the hydrogen bonds that create the surface tension in water. . rubbing alcohol works too.

Hey man! I’m looking to make a 20x20x40 inch block of hydrostone to care up a bit. I was wondering, would something of that size hold its structural integrity? Would it be ridiculously heavy or manageable?

Hi! I am using Hydrostone to make trinket trays. I would like to make the tray waterproof by finishing it with a matte finish sealer. I am not able to find anything in the market. Based on your knowledge on Hydrostone, could you please advise what can I use? Thank you!
