The final episode of my visits to one of Rick Stein's restaurants. Today, I'm in Sandbanks at his restaurant but today I'm going for a bit of breakfast as it's the only restaurant in his chain to serve it. My last visit to Stein's Fish and Chips didn't go so well so I'm hoping this is much better!

  • Great review Gary , both breakfasts looked incredible , the vast majority of your fans know you don't have any agenda's , you always review exactly what is presented to you , nothing more, nothing less. Stunning location
  • The Arnold Bennett looked stunning, Gary, as did the restaurant and location. I'm so glad that Rick Stein has redeemed himself in your eyes!
  • as a young boy 1970,s we used to spend are summers/xmas at my grandparents in sandbanks - we used to walk every day to that building - it had a sweet shop there - we had no idea about wealth or money being children - it was only when i turned 16 that i realised my grandfather was loaded also explains why the neighbours drove a rolls royce . good times :)

your reviews are definitely from the heart and that's what makes them so real and a pleasure to watch...thanks for another 17 mins of joy

For Sandbanks and Rick Steins eatery, I think the bill was very affordable, I was surprised. The dishes looked excellent value and portion sizes and you certainly enjoyed them 😀 Rick has redeemed himself. Thank you Gary as always a great review, have a good weekend.
  • It's extremely gracious of you, giving Rick so many chances, Gary.
  • That's why I enjoy the channel, a mixed range of restaurants from top to bottom, the good, the bad and the ugly and fair reviews.

As everyone says, it’s always a nice treat to see a new post from Gary ! Especially just after a nice dinner.

I have been cooking for 30 years now all over the globe and I have to say again that looks awesome
  • The tea first / milk first thing came from the days of domestic service. Upstairs the family would use fine china / porcelain, which sometimes would shatter if hot tea was poured into it first, so milk was added first to temper the heat of the tea. Downstairs, domestic staff used clay mugs, so the tea could be added first with no danger of shattering...
  • Hi Gary, In 2010, I worked at the haven hotel sandbanks. Great location and you can see why the rich want to live there. Arnold Bennett omelette was the first thing I learned to cook at college, but you rarely see it on menus these days. Glad you enjoyed it, it’s definitely worth ordering. Thanks Alan 😊

Your energy and enthusiasm is contagious Gary 😀

Incredibly beautiful setting. Very jealous of you today, one of my favourite parts of the country. I used to travel a lot for work and got around a lot. Restaurant looked so nice. Don’t get around much now as I have a disabled partner and a crazy Boston terrier dog. Watching your channel has opened my world up a bit more for me again, thanks Gary and Son 🥰
  • That shows how long ago I went to Sandbanks (I live about 18 miles away) didn't know he had arrived! That food looked lovely and not overpriced, considering just a few yards away is one of the dearest roads in the world, houses wise that is! Hope you've done some more vids in the vicinity? 110,000 subs a few days before your 1 year Anniversary! Well done, sirs!

I can sincerely say without a doubt... Gary always gives an honest and unbiased opinion. 👍That`s why I watch his channel. If people can`t work that out, there must be something wrong with them.

Hi Gary, really glad you and Rick are "mates" again! 😁. The location was fantastic and even though I can't eat fish, the dish looked absolutely fabulous and glad you enjoyed it. A bit surprised as well by the fact that Rick Stein had a North African dish on the menu, but that as well looked really good and with some good bread to mop it up with, even better. Another fantastic review, mate, and congrats on reaching 110K subs, it's a new milestone for the channel. Really happy for you and your son. The wife and I are headed out for dinner in a Michelin star restaurant tonight, first a few drinks, to celebrate our anniversary. The sun is shining and it's nice and hot, do not miss London at all. It's so relaxing down here and you're really able to disconnect. Have a wonderful rest of your day and enjoy the summer back home.

Tea first milk after.....that's how it's done on the tea plantations..... The reason milk was put in fist in the 18th Century was due to the tea cups being very delicate China but as time moved on and tea became more popular, the tea cups & mugs became thicker so it depended on prefrance
  • Yet another great video. Only been watching your videos for around 6 months but what a great find! Thanks again for the wholesome content!

Nice Arnold Bennett Quotes: 1) "Your own mind is a sacred enclosure into which nothing harmful can enter except by your permission." 2) "It is easier to go down a hill than up, but the view is from the top." 3) "There can be no knowledge without emotion. We may be aware of a truth, yet until we have felt its force, it is not ours. To the cognition of the brain must be added the experience of the soul." 4) "The moment you're born you're done for." He wrote 34 novels, 7 volumes of short stories, and 13 plays, and a daily journal. He wrote realism for the general public. I guess Virgina Woolf knocked his writing because it was realism and not modernist writing. (I like Virgina Woolf, but if she did that, shame on her.) Knowing this, it is nice they named an omelette after him. It was his favorite omelette at the Savoy. I also had to look up Gordon Bennett. Location is great and food looks good.
