Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games Tokyo 2020 description:

Team up with Mario, Sonic, and friends on Nintendo Switch in action-packed sporting events! Bring your best moves to the track, the gym, the ring, or the water in dozens of different party games everyone will enjoy.

Skateboard, surf, and race your way to the top! With more than 30 events to master in this fun-filled Olympic Games contest, there are plenty of ways to prove your skills to your friends in multiplayer mode.

The team’s all here! Play as Mario, Sonic, or choose from a star-studded cast of colorful characters from your favorite games.

Dive into unique Dream Events that layer fantastical chaos with reality. Zip through a downhill obstacle course on your hoverboard, throwdown for territorial control with lightning-fast karate action, or smash the most targets inside a traditional Japanese manor!

And you won’t want to miss an epic story mode that sends you to 1964 to compete in classic, retro 2D sports events.

Play any way you want on your Nintendo Switch™. We’re talking motion and button controls, single and dual Joy-Con™, single-player and multiplayer, local split-screen and online!

My channel generally focuses on a more casual side of speedruns. With these videos I want to show off cool speedruns, explain how they work, and entertain. Hopefully you enjoy the content and maybe even take up speedrunning yourself, because it is truly a lot of fun!

Our boy bowser was killing it on the gymnastics

22:36 check out metal Sonic doing butterfly. A few interesting things about this: First, it is legal to do other strokes during an individual freestyle event. Second, butterfly is theoretically faster than freestyle at a robotic level. The problem with humans is stamina, strength, buoyancy, and the necessity of oxygen
  • Just to set the record straight, EazySpeezy: Each time you're saying "splitscreen" during Marathon, the term you're looking for is slipstream. When you're moving right behind someone (or something) else, they have to push themselves through air that's rushing around them, and that pushed air will go right by you, so you don't have to expend as much energy. You know that mechanic in Mario Kart where if you hang out behind someone long enough you get a boost of speed? That's exactly the same thing. It's more commonly known as "drafting." You see it all the time in running races as well as automobile races, though with less exaggerated results than in video games.

“He’s good at stealing balls” This is why Silver’s timeline is fucked
  • @XxPeach3691xX
"Doctor Eggman is really good at badminton" god what a sentence
  • @pepdog1
"Of course we're gonna choose Sonic, because who else are you gonna choose for a race?" funnily enough, me and my sisters swear that Dr Eggman is the fastest character (at least in the 2008 wii game) to the point where we made a whole song about how fast he runs. it's called "Eggman is Running" and its a musical masterpiece

Devs: so if you run behind the AI, you'll get a slip stream EazySpeezy: yah so I'm Just gonna run behind these guys to get the split screen.

Peach’s Super during the equestrian event is actually “Equestrian Vaulting” which is basically gymnastics on horseback. A real thing I have seen real humans do. Utterly baffling to me still

Who doesn't love just seeing this man speedrun every game
  • I like how much of a refined taste Bowser has in Olympic events, doing Gymnastics and Fencing is very befitting for the king of the Koopas
  • @MrLopiu
Bowser doing gymnastics is the greatest thing I've witnessed in ages
  • @SAmaryllis
I like the char variety per event, it's not just a single char who's obviously superior at all events! Also that Waluigi replay was so sad lol
  • @Picantepantz
This is the game I've put the most speedrun hours into. Last check I was 7th in archery overall. I just couldn't bring myself to try to tie the top. 35 hours of archery was enough 😆
  • @MrNo-rb5qf
Eggman being very good at boxing is kind of hilarious and terrifying at the same time
  • @supperxpl2506
I love the fact that the absolute nerd Miles “Tails” Prower is a beast in martial arts sports
  • @therockdolphin
the fact that you use so many different characters in the game goes to show how well balanced the devs made them
  • There should be a speedrun of this game where you try to finish all the mini games in hard mode with the worst characters for each one as fast as you can
  • Eggman: My name is Dr. Eggman, the world's greatest scientist, and soon to be the world's greatest ruler. Now witness the beginning of the greatest empire of all time- Vector: So anyway, I started boxing Only people of culture remember the ORIGINAL Dream Race from Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games for Beijing 2008 where it was exactly as it sounds like, a four-lap race around a track with Item Boxes and Dash Panels. Bowser doing gymnastics is…something. Maybe that helps to explain how he’s so mobile in Smash.
