So happy for you Bryn. Your comment about "feeling in my power" and being afraid it would be taken away was just so powerful. Thank you for sharing.

  • It makes nervous watching you go through surgery lol, the thought of going through surgery of any kind scares the shit out of me
  • @gabszampar

Sending you positive thoughts♥️♥️♥️♥️ your feelings are valid. They are yours and no one judges you from them. You are strong. Even leaders have doubts and fears. Don’t beat yourself up. We are here for you.
  • Thank you so much for sharing. You are so brave, it can't be easy. Everyone feels ashamed of something about themselves now and then, it doesn't mean anything except that you are human ♥️ so glad the surgery went well, I wish you a speedy and healthy recovery.

I think for me, I really relate to the part about feeling good about things and then having them turned against you or taken away. I very much reacted to a similar phenomenon by never getting my hopes up and justifying stuff as purely logically as I could, which has ended up causing me some issues in the past. Emotions can't be logically justified, but they're crucial to moving through things. It's something I realized very recently was making it hard for me to justify surgery because I wasn't properly giving my current emotions weight, and wasn't letting myself feel hopeful because "what if I'm disappointed (again)" but this is something other people can't stop me from doing and I can't imagine an outcome where I'm disappointed by doing it. It was always implied that either I'd be disappointed or my dad would be disappointed if I did a lot of the things I wanted to as a kid, but I know I won't be, and I'm not responsible for my dad's emotions. I would be more disappointed if I didn't try, which is something I was not given a lot of space for as a kid; I really got stuck with "it's better to plan it out and follow through and then be disappointed if it doesn't come out the way you wanted" instead of "it's better to try your best and go for it than to be disappointed in yourself for playing it safe."
