U know its worse than Halo 5 when frog has to pull out his human suit to explain it to us
-
My dad stopped watching in the first season, he said “there’s too much master chief bum, was that in the game?” 💀
-
It’s true the Halo show wasn’t as bad as everyone made it out to be. It was actually much worse.
-
Who are you imposter and where is our Frog
-
This show isn’t halo it’s John circles
-
Honestly the best bits of the Halo show I saw is when people took the action scenes and then cut music from the actual games over them and edited out everything that wasn't the Spartans vs the Covenant.
-
3:00 The current piece of media being consumed expects the audience to have also experienced a different form of media to properly grasp the story? Yeah, that sounds like modern Halo storytelling to me
-
You know it’s bad when even the real master chief calls this show an abomination
-
How are they gonna make Captain Keyes black and simultaneously not include Sgt Johnson in the show lmao
-
Frog you’re stronger than me I couldn’t even stomach a hate watch of this show lmao. I’m very much a lore person and,, god,,
-
The show looks awful, can’t believe you actually made it through 2 seasons. Thanks frog 🐸

Unironically one of the best videos on the Halo TV-show I've yet seen and that's saying a lot considering how many I've watched. I think a LOT of people who talk about the TV-show get the problems it has very wrong, tbh. For example a lot of people in the videos I've watched will say stuff like "They tried to humanize the Master Chief but they shouldn't have!" But I think that's completely wrong. I think you pointed to the actual problems with what they tried to do with the Chief. As you pointed out with your Dexter example, instead of first giving us the Chief we're used to for at least a couple of episodes, they had him be that way for like half an episode and then they immediately try to change him. It's way too fast. You need to establish a baseline first before this "humanizing" is meaningful. On top of that, as you also pointed out, they took this humanizing in completely the wrong direction where he becomes this weird ragemonster who deserts and tries to kill Halsey. But they could've had him, again as you pointed out, struggle with all of this but master it while Kai fails to deal with it. That would've still humanized him, but not to the point of it being not Master Chief anymore. And it would've explored the idea they were going for there much better. The one other thing I'd say about that all which you didn't point out, is that I don't think they should've gone with the "emotion chip" bullshit. They should've just had it be natural character development where Master Chief was indoctrinated to suppress his emotions, but an important event makes him start to re-examine it. Would've felt far more natural. Like to return to your Dexter example, Dexter doesn't have an emotion chip. It's his experiences which make him change his thinking about certain things. This is all just on one topic (albeit an important one) but, yeah, I liked this video. I think it hit the nail on the head as to what the problems are far better than most other videos I've seen. Good job.

5:11 “Evil ruler guy who you probably remember as the scientist from…” Me expecting frog to say he likes Pacific Rim : (
-
Not even 343 would disrespect the chief like the producers of this show did. They had an example of how to do a faceless protagonist with the Mandalorian and just torpedoed the show with this stupid "make chief into a normal soldier dude" schtick
-
I feel like Walt trapped in the car shouting in vain trying to save Frog right now. FROG NO! FROG! FROOOOOOOOOOOOOOG!!!
-
Frog put on the human suit, this is serious business
-
having an "emotional inhibitor" is ridiculous, the spartans behave emotionally the way they do because of the kidnapping and military training from the age of 6
-
That's some nerdy kid in a Chiefs hat. Where is the frog?
-
9:11 Its the scene where Chief destroys the ring
-
He is not Master Chief... he is master cheeks
