I wish you the best of luck! I'm currently learning to code after deciding that law school wasn't for me, and I just turned 30. Sending you great vibes and energy along the way.

recently i am seeing this a lot, companies hire experienced devs to do the hard work, then replace them with younger/cheaper to just maintain it here and there
  • @John99YT
I just watched first part and now this. You already got a interview. You got this
  • "Fighting with the computer" - that's why I hated being a developer. Also fighting with a lot of (often very) badly designed and written code that had been hacked out by many a poor trained coder several years prior.
  • every month family burns a lot of money. as the time passes you can feel more stressed about it.
  • @MarkCeeee
Wishing you the best, it is an awful feeling, but you have a great attitude and hope you land something soon.

Hi Phil. Love these short, to the point videos. I am sorry you got laid off. I am a new grad MLE myself and I believe I have so much to offer but I can barely get any interviews since no one wants to hire new grads and the coding challenges I complete lead to nothing. Seeing someone as experienced as you go through this makes me realize how bad the tech market is right now but then again 'Every No is a step closer to Yes'. Good luck man.

hang in there brother, i know you, you clawed your way out of darkness many times and been successful, looking forward to seeing u come out on top
  • The Wound is where The Light enters from ❤ Face the storm, you are just becoming stronger that's all ❤

rooting for u bro. hope it all works out soon and u keep us updated. I'm switching from having a bio sci degree to the tech space and it definitely is a battle with the computer everyday lol
  • If you ever consider making a tech startup, I'll be really interested in being part of it.

Bootcamp grads are replacing laid off employees. Beware!
  • @TheNons3nse
Hey dude, I got laid off as FE developer about a month ago. Still trying to find a job here in Prague. It's pretty hard. So far, I had 3 interviews and I got technical interview next tuesday, so I hope I'll get it.

Hey, could you maybe make a video talking a bit about your education and career path up until now? Would be interesting to hear, particularly as you mentioned that you switched to programming at 29 and were at a senior dev position at 35.

I left a message about meal prep. No to make light of it but learn to cut your own hair (and your family's hair). These are first steps in doing things yourself.
  • @MoXyiD
Im in the high tech industry as well (coding and hardware)! Started this path when I was 30 as well. I am also 35. Youve got this, dude. Idk if you have a degree or anything, but youve got a good personality, intentionality and drive. Best luck! What type of stuff do you want to work on anyways?!
  • Currently attending u of t in Canada. Going into a fifth year of university as a computer science student. Thinking about applying for jobs now so that I can work during the winter semester, or I might just go back to being a teaching assistant so that I can pay for my semester. Heard its extremely difficult to get a job if I graduate without an internship, currently spending the summer learning fullstack through a course at my university where I work with a team. I actually enjoy software engineering but it can feel really demotivating when I see that jobs are getting scarce, and most of my friends shit on the career as being braindead. If I can't get an internship during the school year then I'd hopefully get one next summer, but I've also been considering not spending the winter semester on an internship and instead using it to finish off my math specialist (u of t has something above a major called a specialist). I'm also considering going for a masters in math or cs right after university, but I don't know if that would necessarily be advantageous for software eng positions, or if I'm even intelligent enough to even pursue a career that might demand a masters level knowledge. Do you have any advice?

I’m leaving a comment so when you become the next billionaire tech mogul, I can say I witnessed the beginning! Keep your head up and keep moving forwards! You have a lot of experience and the know how, along with the connections. Apply what you know and, as David goggins says…Don’t stop when you’re tired, stop when you’re done 💪🏻
