People underestimate tucked ends. I looooove using various kinds of claw clips. Its stylish and comfortable. My ends are THE most babied, next my scalp. My routine hasn’t changed in 4 years and I’m coming up on hip length which is wild to me 😆

I love how thick your hair is. There's no see-through part.
  • @KM-np1rf
You’re the first natural I’ve seen emphasize how easy it is to detangle and style your hair when the ends are healthy and clipped consistently. I grew my hair out from a short bob cut and once you have ends that smooth and seamless you notice a huge difference and it’s hard to go back. I notice many women who get short blunt cuts grow their hair out so well and I think part of it is because they experience those smooth, silky ends and keep up with the trims from then on.

    Genetics: Texture, curl pattern, density, porosity Lifestyle: Length, strength, Keep it going ;
  • Remember consistency IS key. Stick to a suitable routine for you or you won’t see any results in length.
  • @rouxtube550
Genetics absolutely DOES impact how long hair grows. Hair will only grow as long as the Anagen phase lasts (2-8 years) and that is genetically determined. That is not to say that Black hair can’t grow long, just clarifying that genetics does play a part in how long the hair can grow.

I don't have a strict routine, but I retain length by keeping my hair braided more than my hair being out. And washing my hair 3 to 4 weeks in between. I trim my ends as needed but probably once in the whole year. I know for me the less I touch my hair the more it grows. Also to keep my hair nice and soft in my braids I use a oil free wig spray. I never experience breakage when I use that. Like know what works for you but I prefer to not have too much of a plan because that stresses me out. But I'm trying to grow my hair to my butt within two years.
  • @ulaniewilson
Your retention rate is top tier.👏🏾👏🏾😍 And yes I agree with following a consistent trim schedule, keep my hair moisturized and my ends tucked. If I'm home the bonnet is staying on😂 My goal is hip length retention for this year.🙏🏾

THANK YOU!!! 2:44 I’ve been saying this since FOREVER! Genetics only plays a role in now FAST it grows and how THICK/DENSE it will be. Ppl whose hair grows fast but they DONT have a proper hair care regiment won’t make a difference because they’re losing the length as fast as they’re growing it !! Love your video ♥️

Thank you for letting the community know about genetic, and the retaining of hair length!
  • @Monicaizpeace
Your hair and skin... just WOW! Veiwers have to be careful following certain youtubers that put out trendy content to make money. You are spot on about genetics. I've had long hair since 2018 (not as long as yours 😂) but the ppl in my family tell me it's because of the creole bloodline on my dad's side. 😒 Never mind the work, patience, gentleness, long detangle wash days, and research that I've done to get my hair to this length. How come those creole roots are just now coming into play now that I'm an adult taking care of my own hair? I didn't hear nothing about me being creole when I was a bald headed child with an unhealthy relaxed hair care regime.😂 Thanks you so much for your tips tucking my mini twists is definitely my go to style. I had a set back last year and had to get a major cut from almost waiste lenth to all the way up to my neck. Currently my hair is sitting thick and full at bra strap length. I would love to see waist length by Dec. 2024.
  • @imho5485
I’m embracing my grays and started wearing two twists in my hair over the last month. I pull the twists back into a ponytail and tuck my hair into a bun. I washed my hair last night and realized it’s 2 inches above my waist.
  • Yes, let me get comfy for this!  Soo, I love the fact that you spoke about the role of genetics and the fact that your tips are for LENGTH RETENTION and not HAIR GROWTH. This is a very important distinction. Your hair is simply stunning! I'll be doing a good trim very shortly as well. Also, the tips are A1! And your final message about self-love and self-acceptance is soooo good! Thank you for posting this! 😍🙌🏾

I know many people don't link to trim their ends. What I do that works really great for me is I dust my ends every 8 weeks. What I mean is I very, very lightly trim the ends where it's needed. Honestly, after I dust my ends, my hair is the same length as it was before I dusted my ends. Keeping my ends dusted, I never need a trim. And it keeps my end healthy and I retain more length this way.

I watched the hear trade market in China and India. I am 100% for growing my own hair.
  • @mlatrellelove
This is a great video! Thank you for sharing your experience and what works for you. I love how you stay consistent with what works for your hair and don’t go looking for ‘bigger’ and ‘better’ through different trends. Less is more. Keep it simple. I believe these tips will help me retain more length ❤
  • @libbylib1819
Thanks for the great tips! Especially about keeping ends tucked yo avoid friction with fabric on shoulder area.❤❤
  • @BeFruitfulMomma
Absolutely loooooove that I found you on YT. Thank you for this platform. I'm in the process of re-growing my hair long (I cut my hair A LOT --- every two weeks) but decided to turn 50 with length. I've kept it no longer than my shoulders but would like to get it to at least past my bra strap again. Thank you for the tips!!!
