Video kindly donated by Dr. Tae Hwan Chung and Geno Vista of John Hopkins Medical Centre, Baltimore. This EMG shows brief bursts of very high frequency motor unit activity (neuromyotonic discharges), in a patient with antibody-confirmed Morvan's syndrome. EMG features of peripheral nerve hyperexcitability are on a spectrum: fasciculation potentials, doublets, triplets, myokymic discharges, neuromyotonic discharges and continuous muscle fibre activity. Any or all of these EMG phenomena may be detected in peripheral nerve hyperexcitability syndromes.
