Man, what a song huh?!! I played this song at my wife's funeral 4 years ago. We were married 37 years so yeah, I have an emotional connection with this song. ✝️😥👍

We lost our daughter back in September, one week after her 49th birthday. She loved PF, went to many of their concerts, and was also a huge Grateful Dead fan. Her entire life was dominated by drug issues, and ever increasing health problems. She spent her last six years back home with my wife and me, after her fiancé died of an overdose from cocaine and fentanyl. Thankfully, she was clean and sober the entire time she lived with us. I'm dedicating ' Wish You Were here ' to Mary Ann, our youngest of only two daughters. We miss you very much honey, and hope that by some great design we will meet again in some other realm or dimension. Love, Dad and Mom

Little brother, you are experiencing musics power to move us in a way nothing else does. Don't ever be afraid of tears, little brother. I'm 64 and still weep when I listen to a small number of particular songs, not just because it's a great song but because it takes me back to another place and time. Another life I left behind.

I'm a metal head, but you can't go wrong with Pink Floyd!!!!😊
  • I'd be willing to bet that the vast majority of the people that have been here for the Metallica, Pantera, Megadeth, Tool, etc. (and I'm one) are also big fans of Floyd (I'm definitely one!) Their music is timeless and universal!
  • David Gilmore is such an amazing artist, he can literally make his guitar sing, paint a scene and set a mood all at the same time.

For the record, Syd Barrett was alive when they wrote this song in 1975. He was alive when they performed this in 1994, Pulse. Syd Barrett died in 2006. The "Wish You Were Here" album was about the loss of Syd Barrett's mind and spirit, his mental breakdown that made him unrecognizable to even his closest lifelong friends. It was not about his physical loss. More Pink Floyd please!! "Shine On You Crazy Diamond" live Pulse rendition. I believe you've already done the studio version. 👍

The UK has given the world some of the most iconic musicians and lyrics ever. ABSOLUTELY BRILLIANT!!
  • I’m 54 years old and I think it’s wonderful that you have been listening to and enjoying music from my generation. I hope you continue to listen and ask questions. 🤟🏻

I’ve struggled with things my whole life: death, anxiety, depression, addiction, low self-esteem, you name it. I’ve had things to cope, but nothing quite calms me down like Pink Floyd. I often feel like a lost soul swimming in a fish bowl, and it’s comforting to know I’m not alone. (Being a part of this community makes me feel that I can share side of me.) Although I’m grown now and have made it through a lot of the difficulties of my younger days, when I’m feeling down, you can bet on a Pink Floyd album being played on my stereo, or in my headphones as I lay there trying to be Comfortably Numb.
  • True rock fans never waiver from the greats. Regardless of what you consider your favorite genre. Pink Floyd should be one of those always.
  • As a disabled person I learnt about loss from a younger age than most people in my life. This song always, always hits hard. But it is simply one of the most moving, perfect pieces of music I’ve ever heard

I just started to cry. I miss so many people that are gone, i miss my youth
  • Are we not lucky to be alive in this time period. Pink Floyd are without doubt the greatest band of all time, I’m knocking on the door of 73 and been a fan for ever and was lucky enough to see them twice in the early 90’s . More PF please 🤘🏻🤘🏻

As long as you remember and feel them, they're still with you. This song reminds me how much we mean to each other.
  • My all time favorite Pink Floyd song. Makes me think of my dad whos been gone for 25 years now.
  • The minute David starts to play I’m done for 😢 Such immense talent. And in his day, one of the most beautiful men ❤
