  • Micheal C. Duncan was robbed of not getting awards for this performance.
  • @kalimaxine
I actually never realized the movie was that long. It's just so good that you don't even notice.

I met MCD in a diner in Orlando called Angels. Without telling him, I paid for his breakfast + was getting to leave. Before I could, he came up to me, thanked me after I’d said how much I loved his performance + proceeded to put double the amount his breakfast had cost into the charity box the finer had for providing decent breakfasts to poorer kids. He was a giant without camera trickery + a total class act. I wish him the best wherever he moved on to.

I cried so hard when Tom Hanks asked "what am I going to say, that it was my job?" Such a powerful scene 😒
  • @trinaq
"Give me your hands, boss." This film always gets me ugly crying, John Coffey deserved better. It's even more heartbreaking now that Michael Clarke Duncan has passed away in real life. πŸ’”πŸ˜’

My now deceased father-in-law and I happened to be reading the Green Mile books independently and unknown to each other at the same time. During a family dinner, the TV in the family room was on, but on mute and a commercial for the Green Mile was playing on the screen. We both froze and said, "That's John Coffey!" One of the few times we saw eye to eye! R.I.P. Ray.
  • The green mile and Shawshank redemption two of my absolute favorite movies!! And yes, rest in peace, Michael Clark Duncan
  • Stephen King himself has stated that this is one of the most faithful adaptations of his novels. Frank Darabont knocked it out of the park with this movie. And of course a marvelous performance by Michael Clarke Duncan. He definitely deserved an Oscar for his role in the movie.

Omg. Saw this in the theater. Sobbed out of the theater, in the car, and all the way home. Never had a movie hit that hard in the feels before. I still can't watch the end without crying.
  • @jymwrite
Yes, Michael Clarke Duncan really seemed to be coming into his own as an actor. He is missed.
  • @vhagerty
No matter how many times I see it, I still cry. Such a great movie.

I recently rewatched this, and loved the way Del was such a likeable character we could all root for. Then feel sadness from his tortuous execution. All despite being on "death row" for unmentioned crimes. I was even angry at the lady who said something about "the fires of hell" and "Satan's imps are waiting."
  • I was about 20 when this movie came out... It was DEFINITELY within my top 10 favorites after just the first viewing! I've ALWAYS loved Stephen King's material, but THIS (along with "The Shawshank Redemption", and "Stand By Me"), is among THE BEST movie adaptations of his work... PERIOD! It's truly a timeless piece of work! πŸ‘
  • One of my all-time favourite movies. Acting, filming and the brilliant casting has already made this movie to a timeless classic
  • @jimmyhass4900
You made me tear up from the beginning cuz this movie makes me cry every time I watch it. It's truly an amazing work of art as was Michael Clark Duncan. That man was awesome and always missed.
  • Every time I watch this movie, and they're putting John in the chair, tears start welling up and when the switch is thrown, I burst into tears. You gave one heck of a performance, Michael.
  • @OGKingofmeh
This movies is in my top 3, I love it so much. An incredible ensemble cast that inhabit every character they play. I own it on DVD and have sen it more times than I can remember but manage cry every single time I watch it. MASTERPIECE ! Thanks for this one, Minty ❀
  • I liked your earlier commentary on this and this is just as great. You're right, "The Green Mile" doesn't feel like three hours long. My family viewed this several times and while we were watching it the first time, it was one of three times I saw my father cry. We were all teary eyed. "Mile" is a powerful, deeply intimate story. I thought it was interesting that the ugly, heinous crime that Coffey was accused of was focused on the same place that Paul's infection was located. It makes you think. Thanks for this video. It's as good as the first one. Keep them coming.
