If I see someone on the side of the road with a mechanical or other problem, I never pass them without asking if they are ok or want some help. About 70% of the time it’s men. 90% of the time they say they’re fine. 10% of the time they are so glad to have gotten a tube or borrowed a pump. 100% of the time, people have thanked me for asking. Some people prefer to walk and I always respect that. I agree that reading the comments section has given me a lot of useful tips that I wouldn’t get even at a bike shop.

Great video, Charles! It is awesome to see more women like Alina sharing their passion for cycling to help other women see that this beautiful sport is as much for them as men. When my daughter was growing up there were essentially only examples of men riding with other men for her to see. So even though she always had a bike to ride, I just don't think she saw it as a viable option for her. The future is full of wondrous possibilities!
  • It is an easy thing to happen men always used to help women if a woman stops in a car with car smoking or something men will randomly stop and help, it's not just cycling. Just like me when I am out with my kids women are always trying to womanplain to me when it comes to advice with kids even though I have 3, in workplaces women always give me cooking tips and baby advice. I just try and see it as people not being offensive and just trying to help, you never know one day you may actually need help. Great video though, you ride in a beautiful area looks amazing

The Camera setup that started at Mont Royal, now the standard at Girona 👍👍 😍
  • Wow. This is great! Hope to meet you both someday. Would be dream come true.

I've been cycling for about a year now and have been so thankful for all the "unsolicited advice" in America we call it being helpful, a lot of women cyclists have offered me advice too not sure what the problem is...what does "mansplaining" even mean?
  • That''s fair, but I also follow a lot of cyclists on YT that welcome critique from more experienced riders. If she makes it known she doesn't want any, that's fine, but I often get a lot of advice from the comments section as a viewer. I think it's part of opening yourself up on these platforms although some people go over the top.
  • @lemonshire1
do you know what handlebar bag she is using? looks nice, commented on her video a few days ago and haven't gotten a reply yet lol
  • @Salukicyclist
To be fair, women can also be guilty of offering unsolicited advice. Check out a nutrition or fasting group sometime. But, that said, I understand you’re point about mansplaining.
  • @tugazuga
Oh Charles, i've looked everywhere for those handlebars bags that fits a mirrorless, can't find it 11:27 really need one 😐
  • Oh boy...you opened a hell of a can of worms. Glad you're tackling this subject. NGL, I'm guilty of it sometimes
  • I guess this type of 'cross vlogging' is the way to go nowadays. Trying to get in yt movies from others that have a bigger audience to grow your own channel. I saw her popping up in a few other ones also. Nothing wrong with that, just interesting to see how those commercial vloggers try to market themselves.

100% Mansplaining is stupid and stupid men do stupid things. But let's not kid ourselves; There are pros and cons to being an attractive female in a male dominated sport. She has 170,000 followers on Instagram. More followers than a lot of pro cyclists. 99% of her posts look like they came straight out of a fashion magazine. She looks incredible in pretty much every pic. Well dressed, well lit, soft lighting and great filters. Sex sells, and she sells it well. Am I knocking her? Absolutely not. We should all work to our strengths and she seems like a lovely human being doing just that. But if you want to gripe about something, gripe about how many people we overlook in the world who are far more talented than us but aren't considered "insta-tractive".
