Megalopolis sci-fi drama from the iconic Francis Ford Coppola.

Megalopolis is a Roman Epic fable set in an imagined Modern America. The City of New Rome must change, causing conflict between Cesar Catilina, a genius artist who seeks to leap into a utopian, idealistic future, and his opposition, Mayor Franklyn Cicero, who remains committed to a regressive status quo, perpetuating greed, special interests, and partisan warfare. Torn between them is socialite Julia Cicero, the mayor’s daughter, whose love for Cesar has divided her loyalties, forcing her to discover what she truly believes humanity deserves.

Megalopolis stars Adam Driver, Giancarlo Esposito, Nathalie Emmanuel, Aubrey Plaza, Shia LaBeouf, Jon Voight, Laurence Fishburne, Talia Shire, Jason Schwartzman, Kathryn Hunter, Grace VanderWaal, Chloe Fineman, James Remar, D.B. Sweeney, and Dustin Hoffman. The film is directed, written, and produced by Francis Ford Coppola alongside Anahid Nazarian, Barrie Osborne, and Darren Demetre as executive producers.

Megalopolis is set to premiere at the 2024 Cannes Film Festival on May 17, 2024.

Just when we all thought Francis was out, HE PULLS HIMSELF BACK IN.

A movie made of pure passion, not from greed. A movie that the director personally invested in, risked ridicule on, just because he wants to shwo the world an idea that has been brewing for years in his head. Successful or not, who cares. Francis is a true artist.

Apparently this has been Francis' passion project since the 70's... I will definitely watch.

The trailer tells you nothing of the film, but does the important thing, it intrigues. I'm excited to see what Coppola has done. His career has been amazing, and the fact that he was confident/excited enough about the film that he sold his vineyards to finance it makes me equally excited to see this work of passion.

IGN can’t wait to give this movie a 7.

Adam Driver is such a strange human being, he looks like he doesn’t fit in any role, yet somehow can fit in any role...

The perfect trailer. Doesn’t give anything away, no ‘highlight reel’. Just pure intrigue.

Coppola sold his vineyard to make this film.

Please let this movie succeed! It is such an honor to see a movie made by such a legend in 2024! People like Coppola and Scorsese just don't exist anymore! Please, please be successful! He did this because he loves movies, not from corporate greed!

In the real-life Roman history this story is based upon, it ended badly for both of them. Cicero was a conservative member of the government of Rome. Cataline was one leader of a failed plot to overthrow that government. When he and the other conspirators were caught, Cicero was able to convince the Roman Senate to have them all summarily executed without a formal trial - his argument being that by conspiring against Roman civilization, they did not deserve its legal protections. But later on, Cicero lost favor and was himself executed for having Roman citizens executed without a trial.

FINALLY - a trailer that doesn't show the entire movie. This is what a "trailer" is supposed to be = gives the viewer a brief look at the movie, but entices them to watch. Not like every single trailer out there right now that shows the whole movie in 2 mins.

We might be the people that get to see THE last movies from Coppola, Spielberg, Cameron, Scorsese, Scott, G.Miller etc. etc.
  • @metal6948
I'm shocked Coppola had to fund this himself. He made THE GODFATHER. No clue how any studio could turn down the man who made what some consider the pinnacle of filmmaking
  • @josertorres
not to many movies to be made by Coppola and Scorsese soon. enjoy them while you still can. we won't be able to in the next 20 years. it could be the last one. their work is truly art
  • @openskies11
Just enough to intrigue us, but doesn't give away the whole movie. Perfect.
