It's the musical that horrified millions, well, thousands...maybe. This box office bomb will forever live in infamy but Nostalgia Critic and Cinema Snob ask is that necessarily a bad thing?

Cats is a 2019 musical fantasy film based on the 1981 Tony Award-winning stage musical of the same name by Andrew Lloyd Webber, which in turn was based on the poetry collection Old Possum's Book of Practical Cats (1939) by T. S. Eliot. The film is directed by Tom Hooper, in his second feature musical following Les Misérables (2012), from a screenplay by Lee Hall and Hooper. The film features an ensemble cast, including James Corden, Judi Dench, Jason Derulo, Idris Elba, Jennifer Hudson, Ian McKellen, Taylor Swift, Rebel Wilson, and Francesca Hayward.

Seeing the crew back together and hugging each other was pretty wholesome.

Taylor Swift: "I'll be the actress starring in your bad dreams." Turns out it was both a threat and a promise.

“Don’t blame the animators blame the idea.” History will only look upon this quote more fondly.
  • “Don’t blame the animators blame the idea” NO TRUER WORDS COULDVE BEEN SPOKEN!!! Welcome home crew glad to see everyone’s home

That initial bit was the right amount of wholesomeness and positivity we needed to face the trainwreck that is Cats. Thank you, guys.
  • Not so fun fact: Andrew Lloyd Webber was so traumatized by this movie he adopted a support dog. What’s more when pressed by an airline as to wether or not he actually needed the dog, he basically replied “watch the Cats movie” to which the airline did and said “okay go ahead bring him no doctors note necessary”.

"I'd much rather watch a trainwreck that's passionately imcompetent than serviceable mush that's forgettably passable." Now that's a quote to remember

Chaplin: "There's some cat nip under my desk!" NC: "YOU HAVE A DESK?!" He's Chaplin. Why WOULDN'T he have a desk?
  • The wholesomeness of seeing all you together again is not only heartwarming but will also negate the possible nightmares I'll get from seeing clips from Cats. (Edit) damn I wasn't expecting to get this many likes, that's amazing.
  • Doug's actual cats would make for better movie characters than the cast of Cats.
  • I heard once that the effects artist were working up to 90 hour working weeks. All while being abused by Tom Hooper who didn’t know how visual effects worked. Kinda feel bad for those effects artists, they were just doing their jobs man.
  • I am insanely annoyed the Cats film Spielberg was working on didn’t work out, that looked so good and like a million times better than what we got.
  • @bentcn8511
"Glad to be back to the office. So what are we reviewing?" NC: "We are reviewing the live action CATS movie." "Uh, I think I'm testing positive for COVID, better go back to quarantine!"

2:00 I suddenly have this idea for Cats, remade as a cyberpunk story where the Gelicals are a cult of humans that have body modded themselves to look like cats, all the dance and song numbers are diegetic from audio/visual implants that everyone can link, and Old Deuteronomy is the cult leader who decides who gets the “privilege” and “honor” of having their consciousness subsumed into the Heaviside layer. Which in this version is a sentient network of billions of people’s minds that controls the world.
  • As much as I love his talk show, James Corden's mere presence just seems to make every movie he appears in worse. He's the anti-Tim Curry.
  • @SkyPilot-qx2sb
22:04 best cut right there Tom hanks Laughing as he runs over the cast of cats in a giant locamotive. Never have I been more pleased

"Lady you're making Carrie Fisher's speech on lifeday look cohesive" is possibly the best thing I've ever heard.
