Do you have any tips for cooking fries in an air fryer?
  • Our new Instapot has a built in preheat feature. Also has a rotisserie fork, and basket. Always great results with this unit.

I boil my fries 8 mins. Cool, freeze, then cook in air fryers whenever.

Going through all this B.S. to air fry French fries defeats the point of using an air fryer. It is supposed to be quick and easy. You might as well break out the Cisco and pan fry.

Get a Ninja Foodi air fryer/grill, do not need oil. I put a whole bag of frozen fries In it, just stir/ turn around and they get perfect 👍. If doing fresh, just takes a tad longer

The correct way to cook them is to par cook them at a lower temp for 5 minutes or so to thaw and soften the inside then crank it up to high to crisp them up, seasoning optional but if you do, season after the par cook. This is an absolute must to making them from raw potatoes but works great for frozen as well.

Yes I have noticed that pre heating my air fryer does wonders with French fries.
  • I have a question, can you use a lot of these techniques if you want to cook or make sweet potato fries?

I buy tiny potatoes at Sam’s, half them, shake in a tad of oil, seasonings and throw those babies in the air fryer, they are stacked in there, and air fry around 20 minutes, they are awesome.

Okay...so is it cold water soaking, THEN blanching, and then another cold water soak? Or do you omit the first cold soak if you are going to blanch?
  • Its actually way easier to start the fryer without a preheat at 370 for like 10 min and then swap it over to 400 to 410 for the next 7 ish min. This works really well on fresh fries.
  • 12 to 15 minutes is a very long time to preheat an air fryer. 5 minutes generally will do nicely. Definitely read the manual before using this suggestion.
