Special documentation: The recovery of the family that survived the massacre on October 7th

Published 2024-01-21
Kan News | The unbelievable story of a family from kibbutz Kfar Aza, that survived miraculously the October massacre, after weeks in the intensive care unit, fighting life threatening injuries.
In the morning of the attack, Ariel and Elai Golan-Hogeg locked themselves in the security room, with their baby daughter Yaeli. They fought bravely with the terrorists that set their house on fire. And barely manage to escape the blaze, hiding, injured, until they were finally rescued. Article by Peleg Netanel, January 14, 2024

The poor baby.....can't stop tears falling when i saw the dad reaching out to hold his daughter....and then they say the attack was all fake. Monsters deserve hell. Bless this family.

Thank you for sharing your story with us. It reminds me of people liberated after the Shoah. You are a very, very brave couple, with a beautiful daughter. I pray you will eventually recover both physically and emotionally, and will lead happy lives. And we are so, so sad that this was done to you. Am Yisrael Chai.

Baruch Hashem that Ariel, Elai and Yaeli are making such wonderful progress. God bless the doctors at Sheba and all the medical wonders and medical advancements that were available. Most importantly is the drive and determination that Ariel, Elai and Yaeli have to get better, heal and be a family again. We love them and wish them continued Refuah Shelama and a good and peaceful life.

  • What an amazing will to survive as a family. I don’t know how they survived with such horrific burns and being forced to hide with nothing but breast milk for your baby and all 3 of you in pain from the burns and losing fluids. Thank goodness the troops were in their kibbutz and they were able to get to the soldiers. I am sorry all 3 suffered from their injuries and burns. When the father was on life support and the nurses/family played music and the father responded by getting agitated I was worried about him. The music seemed to affect him in a negative way. Yael seemed to heal quickly when she started to see her a aba regularly which was lovely. Slay was so severely burned I didn’t think she would survive. But like she said at the end of the video, Yael was the driving force that made her survive 10-7-23 and then survive the ensuing months later. How was Elay able to hold her daughter, Yael, without screaming in pain? Elay is a super hero! May the family find peace., a home that they will feel safe in and their physical and emotional wounds heal. They will have a lifetime of healing with their burns and I hope friends and family and community step up and help them over the years.
