Ben Simmons redefined the point guard position with his exceptional size and court vision. As a "Point Big Man," his playmaking skills and ability to drive to the basket made him a formidable force on the offensive end. Defensively, Simmons could guard positions one through five and was one of the best, if not the best, perimeter defenders in the NBA.

However, his jumpshot, mental state, and later a back injury affected his confidence and performance on the court. Let's find out what exactly happened with Ben Simmons.

  • I had a similar injury to ben simmons (lower back disk herniation) and the mental effects that come with the fear of the pain (which is completely random) flaring up again is immense. normal activities would cause me excruciating pain so i became scared to do anything for a while

It's high time we see "leaked footages" of Ben Simmons off-season training and everyone else being hyped like it's gonna be his redemption arc lol.

"Your back is the backbone of your body" truly transcendental insights here

Dude never cared about ball, got paid and can now be a fashion celebrity. He's not mentally weak, he's a hustler and he won.

•Mark Sanchez butt fumble •Romo fumbling the snap • Shockmaster falling during his debut •Nick Anderson missing 4 straight FTs •BEN SIMMONS SELLING THE FUCKING GAME ON OUR HOME COURT!!!!!

He showed you who he was way back in college, but nobody was listening to him. Yeah, his career has sucked so far and been underwhelming, but that’s also on these damn GM’s for not actually paying attention, it doesn’t take a scientist to see that he doesn’t really care about basketball all that much
  • Ben Simmons will be one of the reasons NBA contracts have clauses put in them to guarantee the money.
  • @skyscout3
imagine having his opportunity and not practicing to get absolutely everything about his game to perfection. top trainers top conditioning, free time to practice, indoor court, people to throw him the ball and still barely doing enough so that he's still around
  • Ben Simmons, mental issue was his teammate kept improving at a rapid rate and Ben didn't like that kind of pressure
  • @BALLFORME
I just hate how he builds himself up every year and says hes fixed things or that hes healthy and its all just LIES, gotta be up there as one of the most dishonest players the NBA has ever seen

This might not apply to Ben Simmons if he actually disliked basketball and never wanted to really play it, but if you’re ass at shooting, you just have to get better at other things. If he actually did care, Ben Simmons should’ve just dropped the whole 3 point shooting nonsense and only tried to shoot 2s and tried to be effective at other things int be game. He shouldn’t have ever attempted another 3 point shot if he actually cared.
  • Ben Simmons is the only player in NBA history to win Rookie of the Year 3 times in a row. He’ll bounce back!

Confidence is a big part of the game. He was cooked after he passed up a layup over the offensive 6’0 175 pound dynamo Trae young

It’s really sad because Ben had all of the physical traits and basketball IQ to be one of the best pass first point forwards in the league.

So many people never realise what happened… Ben’s downward run started midseason, not in that playoffs. If you look at the post game interview after they played the Nuggets and he had a quieter game, he mentions “struggling mentally at the moment off the court”…. If you go from that date towards, the end of that season before the pass in the playoffs under the ring his stats went down dramatically from that date. I’d you check the news at the same time it was exactly when his biological sister accused his half brother of sexually assaulting her growing up and the family went to court against each other. This was the start of the change in Ben.

i used to go to the same school as brandon sampson (guy at 0:52) and so i would regularly see him at open gyms and everything. while i didn’t see him really play unless we was running 5s, he’s such a talented player. like he had so much talent that i don’t think think he knew how good he was. he could outrun guards, had a money 8 footer, was blocking shots outta no where, could create offense for himself and others, had a back to the basket game, and more. i wish he cared more about the game

That 76ers series was the catalyst that let pandora’s box open. Scared about the free throws so passes, Doc saying he doesn’t know and Embiid literally clowning him after he left. That completely demoralised him to the point where even though everyone else was still waiting for him to get his get back he was already checked out. His aggressiveness gone, menat his whole game just depended on his passing which go to the point where he would just stand and throw a steevie. More coordinated version of Giannis but doesn’t have the faith in his abilities to even try to fight the situation. Complete fall-off

Ben Simmons is old news bro. He’s completely cooked. The days of making a vid of Ben to get views are long gone haha.
