In this game of civilization VI, we need to overcome a horrible start. Using the world-builder, we picked a difficult spawn location and added some volcanoes to make it even more challenging. This is going to be quite the game as we try to overcome obstacles to conquer the world.

I like the idea of a people forced to subsist on an island surrounded by volcanos, becoming super violent out of necessity, and then conquering the rest of the planet the second they escape their hellish starting location.

This is basically like if that one native island that shoots literally anything that comes near it, including boats, drones, etc. with hundreds of arrows, suddenly decided to take over the world... and somehow succeeded.

If you had been able to found a religion and unlock Dromons earlier, you could have gone for an early religious victory. But with that start, it's amazing you won at all. Also, for the record, Dromons are effectively just quadriremes with extra range when you are attacking city defenses. They are amazing against units of any kind, but cities are not their forte.
