What I Wish I Knew Before Moving To New York City

Moved to NYC on April 27th, 2022, which was the week of my 44th birthday!

WHO YA CALLING "OLD" BUDDY?? Moved here 7 years ago at age 50. STILL HAVING A BLAST!

We moved in NYC in 2019 and we are in our 50’s. We love every minute of it. There’s always something new to do and always a new restaurants to try😊.We have lived in the NYS suburbs for decades and owned a house with acre of land and almost 4000 square footage . We don’t missed the space that we have and the upkeep that goes with it. Our place now in Brooklyn is enough for the both of us with extra rooms for our adult children to visit. I think our move here is the right time for us as we currently can afford and enjoy what the city has to offer 😊

Raised and born here during the "lovely" 70s and "The Bronx Is Burning" left when I joined the Army in 1986,stayed in Northern Virginia until Summer of 200o and moved back after being diagnosed with MS. Best doctors are here and I've been stable with this disease for 21+ years. New York City the city that never 💤

About to move back to NYC after a few years in Philly. 61 yrs old with a college kid. Never too old!!!! The struggle is real about space vs location 🤣

Man if a broker kept pressuring me into taking an apartment that I’m not interested in I’ll just them: “How about I move into your house then?”

As a born and bred New Yorker, I'm proud of my city. I'll be moving back soon, but through good and rough patches we strive to keep things better and sane lol. You guys rock and appreciate your candor 👍🏼🙏🏽

I need to get to NYC at least once, in my lifetime. I been obsessed with the place since i was a wee lad, watching the likes of Starsky and Hutch and Kojak on the tv.

Ahh congratulations on you guys becoming parents soon, I was born in NYC one of the best cities to be born in Oh and true on all you said!

Once again you covered so much in a short amount of time .In 1982,I was 22 living in Ct, and and I was visiting a good friend who had moved NYC/Manhatten .He had told me he was having some financial troubles and could only find a run-down apartment. How bad could it be? I still visited and the walls ,ceilings were falling down ,the floors were cracked with holes in them. It probably was dirty. The shower was broken ,but the toilet worked .He had to sleep on the floor and so did I.I think i only stayed for one night. Soon thereafter he found a 1-bedroom in the park slope in Brooklyn.

I started out in a tiny apt from the Bronx where I am from. Moved in Manhattan. It seems some people coming out of school want an upscale place immediately. My suggestion start out slow. Nothing wrong with living in a small place no need to impress people. Great video and advice thumbs up.

Definitely never too old to move here :) . And there's always a borough for you if Manhattan is not your thing (my case)

I'm just 17 but I really want to move to New York, I live in Sri Lanka which is currently bankrupt so what you are doing will really help me get that head start
