  • I’ve had an out of body experience but not a near death experience. A very sobering experience.

There's a recent book on this subject and one interesting case was of a person born blind who described what he saw. He should have no concept of what things look like yet was able to describe his death experience. If true, that's fascinating.

It is very straight forward. There are two source of information; one is people talking about themselves, and the second one is research that collects information from a population of people. I came across a lady who worked in a hospital and was asked by the hospital to interview people who had this experience. There was no religious connection to it; just the hospital wanting to know what was going on. one famous story coming out of this was a person who was blind from birth, who was able to see when they died. They actually floated outside of the building, several stories above the ground, and saw a pair of red shoes on a roof, in a position that could not be see from inside or outside of the building. One doctor stepped through the window and crawled along a path until they reached a point where they could see the red shoes. On a follow up research project, also coming from a hospital; a doctor was saying that the drugs given at end of life to resuscitate or control the patient; also have the effect of wiping out people's memory. He personally believed in the possibility of every patient having a NDE but not being able to remember because of the usual drugs administered.

Jimmy is a good man. So are you Cameron.

The caller was perfectly courteous. Why denigrate someone like this just for being skeptical? Shouldn't we encourage incisive and rational conversation with people who come at these issues from different angles? It really just weakens the credibility of the speaker to personalize in this fashion. Jimmy didn't seem remotely offended or inconvenienced by these questions and engaged them in good faith. Which I appreciate from anyone of any perspective.
