Ironic how people like the director hated the mcu Spider-Man for being “too much like a teen sitcom” when this movie is pretty much a “teen social drama”

I forgot where I read this, but Zach Hadel (of Smiling Friends & OneyPlays fame) once said that nobody will care if your characters are sad if we never see them happy.

No, but you see. The suit IS a selling point. Because this movie was made by cynical fans FOR cynical fans who only care about the superficial parts of the character.

Imagine a two hour superman movie where 90% of the runtime is Clark sitting around and grieving Jonathan Kent.

It seems like a good combination of "The Night Gwen Stacy Died" and "The Kid Who Collects Spider-Man" would've been Peter going to visit a sick child after Gwen's death and trying to be the hero the kid expects him to be, perhaps a bit performatively given the situation, only to wind up hearing some of the stories that the kid has collected about him and realizing that he has managed to do a lot of good. So in the end, Peter winds up being that kid's hero and the kid winds up being a hero in his own right and unknowingly saving his idol from a dark place.

What drives me insane is that Gavin received over 100k to make his movie but he couldn't be bothered to pay the VFX artists

24:07 In the original ultimate comics run they actually use this as a story, and have Kingpin trademark Spider-man and sell a bunch of merch of him just to hold over Peter's head because he's technically making him money now.

Never forget how this film got funded +100k and the vfx artists got paid in exposure.

When the first set of drama with the racism came out in July 2022, that was the craziest week ever. Then it got worse the following year with the grooming. It really was a case of us rooting for the underdog only for it to go horribly wrong. Even if Gavin tries to scrub it off the internet, it’s a part of his legacy forever.
