Someone a long time ago spent weeks, maybe months building that hut stone by stone, every day of it being treated to that weather with far simpler equipment to protect them. They persevered and built something that stands to this day. I can imagine them applauding your tenacious effort to use it as an abode again.
  • You are the definition of "If at first you don't succeed, try, try again. I love your persistence and I love your videos.
  • @Amare-fidem-spes
I used to do a lot of tracking camping out. Can't anymore with my health, it's great to see it hasn't died out. My kids had no interest growing up, roughing it to them was not having a mobile phone with them. The gear now is so expensive. Better buying ex-army surplus. It's good a little heavier but it stands up to the test. Squaddie proof. Great to see your videos. Reminds me of my oldest daughter you're very sweet. You are setting a great example for your son too. 👍
  • I love being in a tent in the rain, hearing every drop hit the tent, amplified like a drum.
  • @bachgenb
Well - you are the perfect example of "No such thing as bad weather, only inappropriate clothing". Your perseverance and enjoyment are a real tonic. And your videos are not silly or little!
  • @OfficialCyruss
The miserable weather, the pouring rain pounding the tarp, these are the days I live for. You’re braver than most!
  • @danmorgan7737
Hi Claire, from the wolf mountains in Montana, off grid and have lived alone for the last ten years,,your videos make these long winter nights much less lonely. Beautifully done, and beautifull country, must have been quite hard for my ancesters to have left wales so long ago. Love your vids so well done ,,take care and so many thanks! Such a beautifull soul.
  • @billmorris8358
You don’t make any ‘silly lil vids’. Your videos are inspirational, you truly are one of the most brave, tough, inspiring women lve ever watched. Your evident love of even the most bleak wilderness, is awesome, your bravery and fortitude to traverse some inhospitable terrain, through all treacherous conditions, and injures, while keeping us viewers informed and entertained, with charm, and good humour is enchanting.

Alternative method, take a ratchet strap that will fit around the full circumference of the hut. Wrap that round about 2 inches above ground level, tie the tarp's cordage to the strap. A 2nd ratchet strap around the top of the hut will eliminate most of the flapping. You'll lose the little arch at the door though, but a short tarp/cloth attached to the two straps would create a door cover anyway.

Claire's attempt nr 4. May I suggest the following steps Claire. Take up 6 timber A frames, approx 20 feet of 4X2, around 200 roofing tiles, scaffolding, a Workmate...... Yep tha should fit into your slightly bigger rucksack, (or a JCB would be more advisable 😁😁) it should, with tea breaks, take around two days, then the build should be completed. Method 2 would include getting Nick Knowles out and his DIY,SOS people out, and saying that you live in the roofless building with your 8 kids and limbless partner... They'll be finished within 2 hours, and created a roadway to your Range Rover. Fantastic. Love the channel as always.
  • @OrangeeDude
I feel like I live vicariously through you.
  • Hooraaaaaaayyy!!! I am so happy for you, Claire! I've noticed that it has been said here before, but I will add to it: When you smiled, after successfully raising up the center post, I just beamed with you! Your hour and a half-long tarp securement was well worth it. When I watched you struggling with having to place rocks on the guy line stakes, I said, out loud, "Oh, dear!" I have seen both of your other valiant attempts to spend the night in that little hut, and my heart sank with yours, every time. I was so happy and proud of you when I saw that this attempt was a success! Congratulations, and well done, "Claire, The Conqueror!" You are amazing! Big hugs from Utah! 🤗❤
  • @warrenleagas8084
Congratulations Claire, your sheer will and determination is a credit to you, your stone hut trilogy was an epic journey for you and the wild ones.😊🐻
  • @TimelordUK
WOW I loved this. So refreshing to see a nice lady doing this, who is polite and friendly and not selling us anything! I really admire you ❤
  • Resilience and a never say die attitude to overcome a rather harsh camp spot that saw 2 previous failures; came back determined to succeed this time around. And the music 🎶 in closing was superb.
  • @zakneutron
I love the way you thought about the previous problems and changed things and brought additional kit. Excellent efforts on locking it down. You must have had a great sense of satisfaction.
  • @alan-sk7ky
Once more unto the breach dear friends once more!
  • @PaulHunter-ih1ye
Thank you Claire for another lovely video. A case of third time lucky and masses of Perseverance, Determination and a Never Say Die attitude in the face of some truly horrendous weather conditions. Brave girl and all done with that beautiful smile ❤
  • Brilliant. Last time I was near it, it was on Ulva, off Mull. A pleasant day, a walk up. Then it fogged up. the rain started. So it's my bag and a bivvy bag. I was beside an old bothy, just the fallen stones. I got well cold, and getting out for a pee was tricky. So as dawn broke I had a brew and off to get the boat back. I was wet, tired and utterly happy.
  • @RLee-zs1ds
Congratulations, you are the most persistent young lady I have seen on YouTube. Regardless of what you might want to accomplish in life, I am sure you will make it. Sleep tight and dry.
