Throat Plates for the Ridgid R4514 Table Saw

Published 2022-03-19
Instead of buying a dado throat plate for your ridgid table saw, DIY! All you need is 1/2” MDF, your saw, a jig saw, sander and a chisel! The first one takes a bit of time, but after that you can’t batch these things out!

  • Good Job! I am going out to make one for my saw. Thanks for doing all the legwork on this, I was about to re-invent the wheel (again). Thumbs up and subscribed.

Thanks, Airborne! AATW! Great video. I know what Im doing next with mine!
  • Jeff, thanks! I’ve seen a few videos but nothing a quick and easy as yours. Well explained. If I have some 1/2” down in basement, I’m making both the zero and dado stack face plate
  • I just got a r4514 and was wondering if I could make a throat plate ..And after watching 👀 you I will have no problem thank you so much jeff
  • If you take your wife’s lipstick you can put it on the mounting pads. Then when you put your new insert down it will mark where you need to knotch out your insert.
  • just picked up the R4514, and need a dado plate $40 (I dont thank so) thanks for the video ,

Is there a throat plate for dado cuts with this saw?
  • I really appreciate you for creating this video. The R4514 has been discontinued!!! I cannot find the table saw at all on the Ridgid site. I was searching for parts on 9Mar2024 in Alberta, Canada. There is no lifetime warranty when they stop making the product. Very disappointed about not being able to get parts. Again, thank you so much.
  • To make the dado plate, did you notch out with a jigsaw or keep running it through the table saw?

How is the plate held in on the opposite side of your screw/washer solution?

wosh you had a video on this for the R4513. My factory throat plate is terrible....not even flush with the table surface.
