Riley reads off of a teleprompter almost every day, so when Elgato announced their new Prompter, he was excited to see if this could be a potential replacement for our current bulky teleprompter system. Pitched as an all-in-one solution for streamers, will Riley be impressed, or is there a reason companies spend $$$ on professional setups?

Considering that professional teleprompters begin at the price point of the elgato and don't include a display I would say this is definitely a solid option for the price

Gotta love Elgato bringing down to earth the usually obscenely priced video production equipment for creators.
  • @elgato
Hey Riley - Great review. Thank you for noticing the eco-friendly packaging <3 Did uh...did the sticker slip past you 🤔 We had some thoughts - By simply moving your mouse cursor to the Prompter display you can scroll up/down with your wheel or trackpad - Due to its light weight, Prompter is designed to hang on the front of the camera/lens using the Ring Backplate. When mounted this way, you don't need to use the bracket.

I like the option to send the display, not just text, making it useful for video calls!

LOL, eye contact game streaming seems both hilariously stupid, yet I kinda want it. @10:32
  • @s_alum
Opacity control seems useful when you have PowerPoint presentation and your script at the same time, you can keep reading the script while maintaining the eye contact while checking the content of the slide at the same time

I think they neglected to mention that if you use and love other prompter software that is compatible with external displays, this should still work with it, as it's fundamentally just a display and mirror and mount. That is a huge plus for people already familiar with tools in the space.

I work from home and I use a teleprompter as an additional display whenever I'm on a virtual meeting with my colleagues. I drag their video streams into Ito and it allows me to "look in their eye" when I'm paying attention or talking to them. It's a small touch, but goes a long way when working in such virtualised and highly disconnected world.
  • @pronayghosh
It looks kinda like the old projectors with lightboard we had in school
  • I feel like I should be expecting a full review of this from Technology Connections, considering what he's done for his own setup.
  • @SquishySenpai
Ideally, you'd use this with the Elgato pedal or maybe a Stream Deck+ to control the prompter.
  • @Dameworth
Elgato is slowly creating a whole line up of really amazing affordable video production equipment. It's never been more affordable to make professional looking content.
  • @silversonic1
Riley didn't realize that this could be used for more personal video calls. (Raised on Star Trek, so talking face-to-face at a monitor makes sense to me.)
  • @DantesGrill
This is genius! I can't imagine how many content creators there is out there who would buy this, but it's an untouched market, easily accessible and decent price. Love it
  • @SoidHoid
I could see using that for zoom calls to make better connections with those on the other end.

I legit did this with a Little Prompter back in 2020 when i was streaming drone racing. I used a phone as the screen that was receiving a chat feed where i overlayed chat over a feed from the camera so i had a confidence monitor to see myself. It was really awesome and i got a lot of comments about the eye contact when talking to chatters. I didnt have too much of a problem with fast moving chat because i only averaged 10 viewers haha but it was awesome. I 100% will buy this because my old setup was janky.

Great review. Was interested in seeing one on this product. Well done.
  • @NickCharles
Considering what I paid for my own Neewer brand prompter (that doesn't even come with a screen!), this is an absolute steal if you just need to get up and running with as little hassle as possible. Nicely done by Elgato, hopefully this can help drive pricing down a bit.

BRILLIANT summary. I think I’m ready to take my podcast to teleprompter level 🫣 and this post was AMAZINGLY informative. I’ll check out more of your videos. THANK YOU!✊🏽✊🏽✊🏽
