Caitlin Clark is heading into the Olympic break with a clear conscience.

The Indiana Fever rookie earned her first All-Star win after Team WNBA beat Team USA on Saturday night in a game that many looked at as an opportunity for Clark to get her revenge following a surprise snub from the U.S. women’s basketball Olympic team.

"No, I mean they’re really good," she said with a grin. "They have plenty of talent on that team. It was the same four years prior – I’m pretty sure Team WNBA beat Team USA [and] they were perfectly fine in the Olympics."

Team USA did suffer a loss ahead of their gold medal run at the 2021 Summer Olympics in Tokyo. But this year’s loss followed a media storm that saw WNBA fans – more specifically Caitlin Clark fans – outraged when she was not selected for the Paris squad.

But for Clark, she believes that Saturday’s loss serves more as a testament to the talent in the WNBA.

"I think, if anything, it shows how good this league is. It shows how much talent is in this league and how you have to show up and prepare every single night because there are a lot of players that aren’t even here on All-Star weekend that can be here and be in these moments too."

She continued, "I think for myself, from my standpoint, this is a great opportunity and will help prepare them for Paris and I’m going to be supporting them and cheering them on. I love the Olympics, I’ve loved the Olympics ever since I was a young kid and they’re going to be just fine. They’re going to win gold and dominate so I’m not worried."

The disappointment of not seeing Clark help continue America’s dominance in women’s basketball at the Olympics does have a silver lining for Clark. She’ll finally be able to rest after a nonstop journey that included a championship run in her final year at Iowa and becoming the NCAA Division 1 all-time leading scorer.

CC smiling was great to see. Cheryl tried to get her to break the assist record and she waived her and said nah because arike was cooking. Thats what i love about her. She just loves the game

Lets not underestimate her assits. She had an easy lay-up and passed it off to Reese. This happens a lot with her. She's not selfish and knows she can score. She's being the smartest player any of us have seen. Because she's showing she can be a good teammate.

They oughta be happy Caitlin wasn't hitting 3's. Team USA would've gotten cooked even worse lol
  • @Rascool69
I think it was also telling that Arike didn't want to be in the pool for team USA becuz of the politics involved with the team selection.

You know, this is the first time viewing your channel. I am a retired broadcaster. Your channel and personality, compared to other channels, is refreshing with your sports news delivery. Very professional and non-"political/bias"! Another great ingredient that you provide is the fact you didn't show Caitlin Clark vids from the NCAA and previous Fever games. You get to the point of interest. Most importantly, it is current. Seeing the same vids over and over again, to me, really puts some boredom and apathy towards the WMBA. Your accomplished channel is spot on. You just aquired a new subscriber! Keep it going! ✌️🌟❤️🙏🇨🇦

One of the biggest narratives of why they didn’t choose Clark for team USA, is because the players have been playing together, so they have a chemistry… and they just lost to a much younger team that practiced about 3 days.

Ogumbawale pulled herself out of the Olympic pool because of the politics. Again, you really hear nothing about it. Catilin obvious hate.

That comment CC made about see you in a month. I think she is tired , she has been going hard for a year and everybody coming at her including the media must get tiring. I think she has been looking forward to this rest.

Watching Caitlyn and Angel playing together was super HOT!!! 🔥
  • @Gmalife
What a fantastic win by WMBA TEAM!!! So proud of you all. AO was on FIRE , literally could not miss!💐💐💐💐💐💐💐💐

It would be different if there was proper leadership and sound reasoning. I cant give it a pass and it is a big deal because of the reasons they left Catilin off. I cannot give the committee a pass on this and there needs to be a change. People want to watch sports not activism and wokeness. Ogumbawale pulled herself off the list because of the politics.

The merit argument not longer works. She deserves it. Its not we are just going to put her on to grow the league. She is in the MVP talk now. That dont work anymore. The fan argument, well I dont recall hearing about any riots or craziness. So another FN stupid reason.

I am glad they did not take her. She looks exhausted and she needs to rest. She said she does not want to touch a basketball she has been playing high leverage basketball for a year straight. Let her get away refresh her body her mind and soul. Come back and finish strong. The US will win gold regardless. When someone drops 34 points on you in the second half you are going to lose.
  • Clark & Reese should both be on Team U.S.A. Retire the Dinosaurs & bring in the "New Hotness"
  • @freshcutgrass
Yes CC would bring alot of attention to Team USA and women's bball. But Coach Reeves and Team USA don't want her taking away their attention. EU sports reporters have already said they were excited to cover Clark but unfortunately she won't be playing on Team USA.

Kelsey Plum face-guarding Caitlin in an All-Star game was hilarious.😆 Clark was just playing relaxed to enjoy the experience, knowing that winning there didn't depend on her that much. She's so looking forward to her vacation. And everyone just did their job on the All-Star team and played loose.

I think the bigger olympic snub was Aliyah Boston. The last few rookies of the year were brought to the olympics but this year they decided to change it and have no players under the age of 26.

You've got some of the best commentary - Thanks!
