Mr. Beast didn't actually "cure" the blind. What he did was amazing and generous and life-changing for a thousand people. My fear however is that the way he framed the video and claimed to be curing blindness will actually do more harm than good in the long run. #shorts

  • I think people underestimate just the sheer AMOUNT of people that take things at face value.
  • It’s weird because Mr Beast FULLY EXPLAINS what the surgery is and not that it’s curing blindness, but curing a specific type of blindness
  • I am legally blind. Have been since birth. After my last colonoscopy, the nurse was giving me my discharge instructions. She said I can drive in two hours. I said, are you telling me I can drive in two hours? She said yes. I said, I have been legally blind since birth. If I had known a colonoscopy could fix it, I would've come in much sooner. She was embarrassed.
  • I love how you explained the different types of blindness. Like how your case is different from others peoples and I think it’s great to raise awareness

The main problem with a lot of people is they read headlines and video titles. They don’t go on to read the article or watch the video.
  • @RobinRhombus2
Mr. Beast can't bring back the dead yet be optimistic.
  • As someone who is going deaf, I sympathise with anyone who has an impairment, particularly those who are deaf or blind, we don’t get the sympathy of other impairments, people are more likely to get frustrated with us and I’ve been told “just listen better” a hilarious number of times, it’s the biggest problem with going deaf vs being deaf is cos you hear some things your expected to hear everything

Deadpool has the cure for blindness right next to the 116 kilos of cocaine.

I did post a 3 minute longform video about this yesterday as I wanted the time to really articulate my thoughts on this matter but I decided to do this SHORT as well in order to help combat the spread of misinformation caused by Mr. Beast’s video as best I can. so, if you already saw that one, sorry for the double-up. If not, welcome to the wide world of real information that’s not overly-sensationalized for the sake of clicks : ) The long is here if you want a deeper dive inot this topic: https://youtu.be/nxI6lirO5K0
  • In the video Jimmy did actually explain how to procedure worked, and said that half of blindness is cured by it. So yeah, Jimmy did explain exactly what he was doing.
  • Mr. Beasts video didn't confuse anyone, people confused themselves by taking his title at face value. It's their responsibility to watch his video if they aren't sure what it means.
  • @squilliam5777
I could kinda tell by the way the people reacted after being cured that it wasn’t going from “I can see nothing” to “I have perfect vision”. This makes a lot of sense, thanks for clearing everything up
  • @ava7n
i love how this guy just gently describes what happened, and doesnt get become a twitter user and actually explains what actually happened
  • @RadioDanoo
This is a really important issue. Thank you for posting this
  • Obviously there's a difference between blindness and cataracts. However cataracts can be so severe that it basically equates to blindness; which was the case for my grandfather. The "black dot," that you see in cataracts can completely impede you vision entirely, giving you sub 5% vision. Calling it blindness, is much easier to understand or more appealing to those especially, children that don't know what cataracts is.
  • @Mr.HighIQ69
As person who is legally blind I had the same thoughts when I saw Mr.Beasts video but am still really proud of what Jimmy is doing as well as you Pete your are an inspiration to a lot of people blind or not and you’ve helped me break out of my shell and expand out to do other things and when it gets to be summer plan on trying to do surfing. 👍💪😎🙏
  • This should be seen by more people. My condolences for your condition and those who share it
