Things to Consider as an Art Collector in Contemporary Art This is Artwork You Should See

You as a viewer, consumer or an art collector should not have to wait to see artwork that you may want to see. This is even if art galleries and art fairs don't have the space to show artwork of an artist or even of art galleries are placing an artist on a long waiting list so you will not get to see their artwork. No way should an art collector not see artwork because someone has brushed the artist off by not reviewing the artwork they submitted or because somebody has not read the artist's submission. Because it is not your concern as a viewer, a consumer or an art collector to have to wait in line to see artwork because an art gallery or an art fair decides to delay for you to see the artwork. Because this is exactly like being stuck in traffic because someone else had an accident. Nobody should decide for you to see something later if you can see it right now, and most important nobody should also decide for you what to see.

As an art collector or an art consumer you may want to consider the following factors about art you are considering. How to tell if artwork is unique is to consider has the artist copied the idea from somewhere else or is it the artist's own idea? How many artists have a similar idea to the artwork you are considering? Is it possible to photograph the scene in the painting or artwork? Or did the artist have enough imagination to create the scene? Are the objects in a painting easy to identify or does the viewer have to use their own imagination to identify them? By looking at a painting does the artist ask you to use your own imagination or is the artist making the delivery of their artwork for you to see? When asking such questions does the artist want you to be the artist when you look at their painting or is the artist doing their job being the artist by showing you what is in the painting? These are the things to consider. One may argue about abstract art being another type of art. But the questions remain how much abstract art is out there? How much landscape art is out there? And how much surrealistic art that does not have to identify with an artist from the past is out there?

Here the artist Gregory Pyra Piro is presenting something he created. Something the artist has not copied from somewhere. Surrealism artwork is referred to a few famous artists far too often. Here we have surrealistic artwork that we do not need to identify with any famous surrealist artist from the past. What is even more important is that nothing in this artwork has been generated by the help of a computer. Computers were not here for public use when surrealism art emerged. This artwork shown here is not something one can also go out and photograph such as in landscape artwork. Contrasting contemporary abstract art where the viewer is asked to interpret each object, here in each oil painting the viewer can see the creatures, the volcanoes, the bio domes, people around caves and fire, the mountains, the ravines and waterfalls. It doesn't matter if the viewer does not understand the meaning of these objects but that the viewer can see these objects without guessing what they are using their own imagination. The viewer here does not have to imagine the painting but the viewer can see the painting.
