gdc here. Thanks so much for the feature! Really surprised to see a 1 star here but I really like that since it is meant as a "beginner-friendly" introduction to this new ruleset. Took me a bit to find a way to make zipper lines work with 1 star since the ruleset naturally gravitates more towards 2-3 stars (for my setting style). As always, thanks to the testers on the CtC-fan-discord and to Jaze for inventing the ruleset :)
  • Your videos introduced me to these "strange" kinds of sudoku. At first I couldn't find anything without watching the video, but I'm starting to be able to solve them without help more and more often. Thank you for introducing me to and teaching me about these wonderful puzzles! This channel really is amazing!

A well-deserved feature for gdc! They've been setting Zipper puzzle after Zipper puzzle that have all been a complete joy to solve; I think the popularity of the new line is in no small part thanks to their efforts.
  • 5:00 "Zippity-doo-dah, zippity-yay. My oh my what a wonderful day. Plenty of sunshine heading my way. Zippity-doo-dah, zippity-yay."

Finished in 16:24. I really appreciate having these nice approachable puzzles on the channel - the little boost of confidence upon finishing a puzzle is such a good feeling!

The inverted commas around “easy” filled me with foreboding. Happily, my fears went unrealized. A lovely, chewy snack of a puzzle; one can get one’s teeth into it, but it won’t rearrange one’s entire day.
  • @DuelScreen
Yes to the song. "Zip-a-Dee-Doo-Dah" is a Disney song featured in Song of the South (1946).
  • This was very, very fun to solve and to watch you solve, Simon. I would say that this is maybe a "quite approachable puzzle" - not a GAS, exactly, but one step more challenging. And you're right, it has lovely logic. I especially loved discovering that 5 and 6 were zipper line totals - a surprise! Thanks for this video and for everything that you're doing to make CtC such a fantastic, excellent channel - the best I know of.
  • @jchaffer
21:59 for me! A lovely puzzle. The beginning felt opaque but then it just began revealing itself.
  • This was my first Zipper Line variant and SUCH A BEAUTIFUL PUZZLE! Very enjoyable solve. (45:49)
  • @RoselynTate
gdc has put out several really nice zipper puzzles recently -- just lovely!
  • @martysears
Excellent and elegant puzzle, a very much deserved feature. The interactions with the diagonals are really pleasing
  • @anaayoung9142
Super neat solve Simon, happy that you bring more of zip-lines sudoku here!
  • @laurasmith2173
I look forward to the long videos even if I have to watch them the next day. A 3 hour solve is right up my alley.
  • @davidtieman4102
The title is from the 1940's Disney movie Song of the South, although finding the movie today is quite challenging. Not a bad puzzle.
  • @abcadef6171
Apparently Zip-a-dee-doo-dah comes from a song in the 1946 Disney film "song of the south".
