  • "That's gotta be the straightest thing I've ever done." Frickin hell Illy, way to make me laugh🤣
  • @swissy1990
I once played an alcoholic maid that was the comedic relief, I accidentally made a bunch of parents think I was actually drunk and drinking tequila
  • Being a theater kid, I can say that it’s okay to be in the ensemble.if they cast you as the ensemble, that means they see you as a good actor in that role. They see your skills in that place.

As a fellow high school theatre tech person, this made me happy. Lots of actors that don't get big roles are like "ok I guess ensemble it is" and don't think about tech at all.
  • @illymation
did anyone else's cast bring unforgivable teenage chaos to Waffle House after third night or was that just us
  • @CalebHyles
is still listening to Taylor Swift's "Speak Now" on repeat

Recently, I had an audition for Chicago and I doubted myself as I was going for a main and there were some other amazing actors going for the role, before the cast list came out I immediately doubted myself. I did get the role I wanted but just to think I'm not the only theatre kid that went through that is shocking, especially while watching this.

You know? Even when it feels like you wanna slap your past self by acting badly, I have felt that too, but I... think that may not be what you needed. Watching your videos and the things that happens in your life made me realize that, even when that doesn't justify bad actions, what you needed was a hug, you needed kind and supportive words. Not only from others, but from yourself. You needed more Mr. Hudsons in your life and I mean not just in theater clases time, and be your own mr Hudson
  • I just need to say it! Illy and the way she paints backgrounds are absolutely gorgeous.

I love all the references they managed to cram into a 14-minute video
  • So I just did my first play, it was Bye Bye Birdie and it was amazing. I don’t care that I got chorus bc it had a perfect cast, crew, and directors. The house was packed all 3 nights and the atmosphere was like no other. I had a couple of lines but I was needed for those lines. I love what the director said on closing night, she said “It doesn’t matter if you are apart of crew or the lead you are important in this play” and it is true.

I just want to say thank you for this video. You really made me confident to audition for my schools musical and I got a lead role!
  • @TimeBucks
Illy’s vids are always super engaging
  • “there is no small people. only small roles.” make the most out of your role! you can be a very memorable part of the show.

My biggest role I ever got was Captain Hook in a Wendy and Peter show in the 12th grade, I felt so shocked when I found out I got the part. Seeing the many more talented people who auditioned not get it, still shocked to this day

illy, I know you won’t see this but, I’ve had really bad stage freight especially when it comes to singing. I’ve been in my highschool’s theater department for 7 productions and not once had I tried out for a musical. This year it was announced that the musical was a production that I grew up with and still really love. I wanted to thank you for posting this video even though our experiences aren’t completely the same, this video was one of the factors that helped me choose to try out this time. Although I’m not sure if I’ll get casted, I’m still proud of myself for trying out and singing in front of other people. So, thank you!
  • Being autistic myself, it's nice to see Illy express herself in a way that she's comfortable with. Also, I can relate to a lot of what she says, especially the whole "trying only one thing and crying when it doesn't work" thing. Not that I'm a theatre student, but that mentality can be applied to a lot of other things for us as well. Keep your options open and your head high, everyone!
  • @rachel_sj
Honestly, your Paulette audition was the most Paulette way to audition for the role. It’s almost as if no one watched Legally Blonde in preparation for the musical…

Man, theatre and clubs are the only things that i'd really want to go to American school for, but i'm in the middle of Asia with the craziest school program (and i'm also already in college). The closest thing to theatre were preschool holiday shows for parents to watch us deliver dances songs & random talents decided by teachers (and it wasn't fun). The fun stuff that only 1 singular cooking class in like 7th grade that was promised every year & never came true again
