The Vietnamese culture in the Houston-area in particular, is such a wonderful part of Texas history! The Vietnamese are a big part of the modern fishing industry of Texas. Mekong is a delta. Mississippi River region is a delta. I've watched and have enjoyed the incredible assortment of Vietnamese restaurants that have blossomed all over Texas since the 80's. Thank you so much, Mikey Chen, for covering some amazing restaurants in Houston. I look forward to trying each!

    "it's not spicy enough" - Mikey's gf That's how you know she's special ❤️

I like that he tries to focus on the food and the place while also making sure his guest are part of the food conversations so they dont feel left out. Also, I like that he's eating with someone. Again, food tastes so much better when you have someone to share it with.
  • Well gotta say, I stand with Mike on the need to prove to aunties that we can eat what we order. This one time my sister and I went to a restaurant and ordered our favorite dishes, separately, and this aunty came to talk to us and told us the portion was too much for just two of us and it would be a waste. She recommended cancelling half our order. My sister and I just looked at each other, smiled, thanked her and asked to bring the food. Well we not only finished every last bit, but found ourselves wanting more.. Good times..😁

I've been in houston for 13 years and im viet. These are the main spots I hit up for authentic delicious viet food: dish they specialize in, name of restaurant banh nam- nam giao bun mang vit- bun mang vit thanh da banh cuon- thien thanh pho - pho binh by night or yummy pho or simply pho bo ne- bo ne houston or pho bo to & bo ne pha lau (EXTREMELY "from the motherland" type dish, not for the squeamish)- pha lau houston banh bo chien- tan tan canh chua- tay do (off hwy 6) just a few. The best part is most of them are around china town or alongside bellaire! Enjoy eating foodies

Just when you think your day is going downhill Mike Chen posts a video and makes it better again😂

You should ask for red peppers and cut it into the soup. The spice is much better than Sriracha in the broth. For Vietnamese food always ask for the red/ghost pepper ..... so good!
  • I love pho. With my dietary restrictions and not being able to have dairy. It works so well with it. And the bone broth is really good for me and chrons disease.

I remember going to a Chinese restaurant in Houston and I sat there and ate everything and the Auntie there was shocked I ate it all 😆 And it was on Bellaire to. All the restaurants there, it's like you'd have to go everyday to find a new place to eat.

Ca Kho To is my favourite dish ever. My mum used to make it weekly for me and my bro as kids. And yes it’s true, “it’s not that sweet” is the best Asian compliment for dessert. ❤️
  • My husband and I love that you moved to TX cuz we live in houston and are still discovering all the great Asian food here. More Houston Asia town videos when you come please!!! Love to Christine, too. It’s so good to see you happy with a kind partner. Happy eating!
  • The “building with the crown on top” is where I work! It’s Memorial Hermann hospital. ☺️ Hope you enjoyed Houston!
  • I love that when I watch this channel it makes me want to travel and eat
  • @Hannahowa
I love these Houston videos. I live 3 hours away from Bellaire and constantly take weekend trips out there! I’m compiling a list of all the restaurants since Mikey only knows quality! 👌🏼

My sister and I tried Big Dash today (Sat evening) and it was wonderful! Thanks for featuring them. We had the stretchy ice cream, one that was more of a sorbet and a brown Kinafa. They had a steady stream of customers
  • @scallums
You just scratched the the surface of Asian food in Houston, you need to go up to the Spring and 1960 area to the west side of Highway 45 ( referred to as North Freeway) Multiple strip malls of nothing but Asian restaurants.

I'm so happy you liked the Arabic ice-cream and kunefe and baklava! Its so nice to hear when people enjoy Arab foods!! :)
  • @zeyneeperan
When you were eating kunefe, maraş ice cream and baklava i thought you were going to talk about Turkish food and was ready to cheer that you liked them so much, but still your enjoyment of these foods made me so happy as a Turk. Keep up the great work man, love watching you eat and exploring all the places you go. Lots of love from Istanbul 👋🏼😊
