In an interview after this song was released, Mike Shinoda revealed why it wasn't released. The song wasn't released on meteora in 2002 (when lost was recorded) due to the band deciding that it had a similar message to the song numb. That decision is such a huge gift to everyone now.... To hear Chester so many years after he was lost.... Words truly can't explain how grateful fans are for this gift... Chester is still deeply missed.

When Chester said β€œBut I'm tired, I will always be afraid” hit differently now.
  • @lucyverde8250
A masterpiece. Lyric, sound, video, vocalist. Forever linkin park, forever Chester Bennigton the GREATEST❀
  • I experienced the same emotions. I'm 25 years old and I'm crying like a baby, I can't hold back my tears. Chester will always be in my heart.
  • @pauldavis5423
I’ve listened to this maybe 10 times now and it’s made me cry each time You said you weren’t aware how long they’ve had this recorded for, this was an unreleased song from the Meteora days, so it’s even more upsetting to know this was recorded 20 years ago and he was living with that pain the whole time, and like you said the reason it hurts to hear now is because we’re hearing it after what happened happened
  • @DanCobbs73
Linkin Park will always be a special band for me, I was lucky enough to be able to see them at Reading Festival 2003 so shortly after Meteora was released and it’s still the best concert I have been to, I remember singing myself hoarse and being on a high for ages afterwards. I was right down near the front so I was able to be close to Chester and the band. Hearing this song and watching the video for the first time had such an emotional impact on me and I just cried, those lyrics hit so hard after everything that happened. Chester was such an amazing singer who had such an influence on the metal scene, so many singers were inspired by him and although he has left a hole that will never be filled his legacy will live on forever.
  • Thanks for sharing these raw emotions with guys. It's been an absolute rollercoaster watching reactions and finding familiarity with a lot of people in their love for Linkin Park. As for the song itself it was recorded 20 years ago when they were making Meteora. It hasn't been remixed or remastered. This is exactly how the song sounds as it sounded 20 years ago. Also the reason why it was unreleased is because the vibe and subject matter were too similar to their song Numb. So when it came down to Numb or Lost the band choice Numb to put on Meteora.

Wow what a Epic song, miss you Chester bennington, Linkin Park don't Judge the Screaming listen to the meaning ❀️ 😭
  • @DSHndmn
Mike Shinoda came out and said that he asked all the members to listen to all their unreleased tracks to add to the 20-year anniversary for Meteora. As Mike was was the main producer, he had access to most songs and found this one. He said it wasn't released at that time because it resembled other songs too much from the album. Just thought I'd share.
  • I cry every time I hear this… not just because of the lyrics and the fact that I hear Chester again. It’s just what so many go through, how people can relate to his pain, even beyond the grave he still reminds us that we all share pain. We are not alone, we miss you Chester 🌹 thank you Linkin Park #RIP #Nostalgia #Crying 😒 Thanks for letting your emotions out, truly shows how magical Chester is even n

Chester is one I'll never get over , this band was the closest thing to therapy as a depressed kid in a world that doesn't believe in mental health. R.I.P Chester Bennington.

  • This band saved my life more then once growing up. Losing chester broke me. And the second I heard his voice on this new song I lost it. It was a gift Linkin park gave us all releasing this. I missed him and the band. And after the last few years we all have had. It was a beautiful thing to have again. πŸ’œ

The first album I bought as a 16 Yr old with my own money was papa roach and Linkin Park, ever since then I've been a massive fan, every song they did meant something to me on a personal level as with everyone else and no band since then has filled that void. Was gutted when I didn't get to see them due to the Manchester bombings and as we know it wasn't to long have he was sadly taken from us and around the time I lost my grandad and my best friend (who I was going to concert with) and that last album had so much meaning for me. They are one of the most loved bands of our generation
  • It is such an amazing song. I still can't see LP without Chester. They releasing this β€οΈπŸ–€, couldn't be more happy. I am lucky to have seen them live. Thanks for doing this reaction video and sharing your emotions as well.
  • I grew up with Linkin Park and I'm grateful for it. I love you Linkin Parko, I love you Chester (R.I.P.)
  • @NahIamgood
I really liked seeing a different side of you two, not overly emotional for views but real emotion! Even though I watched a lot of your content, this is the video that made me subscribe. Linkin Park means so much to so many people, I am really grateful they released such a beautiful tribute to Chester and gave us the opportunity to come together as fans once again.
  • @randiwill9326
Every time I listen, goosebumps come. The chorus brings the tears big time. Every time. It just reminds me of when I was 15 years old and listen to nothing but Linkin Park. I will never stop missing Chester. πŸ₯Ίβ™₯️
